In my neighborhood, all the kids go downtown where they close off main street and the businesses hand out candy. I've got two full bags and haven't had a single kid knock on my door. That's a lot of candy I'll probably be eating in one sitting.

This is common in a lot of areas. A couple of miles from me is Oregon City, the businesses on Main St. hand out treats to the kids there which reduces the amount of them coming to our door. We plan for no more than a dozen trick or treaters each year. This is why we feel confident in handing out full-sized Hershey bars. If we got hoards of kids, it would get too expensive.
