This isn't addressing inequality, it's teaching victimization and scapegoating. It's a device used to alienate, stigmatize and marginalize a segment of the population. You're training children to view a group as an abuser ultimately creating hostility. You're also training kids to view themselves as abusers and innately evil, potentially causing great damage to their their mental health and self esteem. But you're a racist, so I guess you get off on that.
It's stupid assinine comments like this that tempt me to be flippant.
You kind of remind me of the Dad in the story they were speaking about.
"Don't tell your Dad anything about this. Why? It will upset him. Why? It just will. lol
Total myth brought to you by the victim industry. Only a small number of people are complicity taught to be racist from a young age. You're buying into the Sharpton and Jackson mythology of victimization. The kind of racist curriculum being taught here encourages racial conflict. They are teaching one group to be suspicious of the other, breeding animosity and hostility, while instilling self loathing and guilt in children for actions of the past and situations beyond their control. Use some common sense, this isn't ethical and it's harmful.
I can see where many fearful & suspicious of this may make that assumption, however, the bottom line really is this, ...neither one of us know exactly what is in the story, how it plays out, and how these lessons are taught, ...so until we do, there really isn't much point in speculation and assumption.
I've obviously made the assumption that it will be taught with the care & sensitivity that such a subject requires. You've made the assumption it will damage self esteem and create problems all around.
The fact is... neither one of us really knows how this is going to play out.
Do I think it's a
GOOD thing for white kids to learn about and understand what white skin priviledge is?
Absofvckinglutely!!! How such lessons are taught... well, that there's the $64,000 question isn't it?
I wouldn't advocate the method used in the documentary "Blue Eyes" ...certainly not for young children, but I believe there is a way to educate without harming their self esteem. As for the breeding animosity & hostility? PULEAZE!!! I would think the arrogant obliviousness to white skin priviledge does more to breed hostility than simply acknowledging it's existence. Sheesh! It's like Gwyneth Paltrow... no one really gave a poop about the fact that she came from Hollywood Royalty which gave her access. The hostile backlash she encountered stemmed from the fact that she couldn't see that she had a lucky break right from the start. Her 50 metre dash started a couple of metres from the finish line.
