Yeah, the media ALMOST went there with Manti Teo... he "sexted" with another man for 2 years "accidentally".   But they respected the boundaries.

ESPN just keeps saying more is coming.  They are NOT talking about sexual orientation so far - they're talking about the race thing.  EVERYONE is pummeling Incognito, getting on the right side of it.  

Personally, I think sexual orientation stays out of the news.  It'll be all over the blogs, but I'd still be surprised is ESPN "goes there".  

ya the NFL network is distancing itself from the possibility this is sexually oriented bullying as well.

I wonder if the league would let something like that come out. it's a sport steeped in a history of  'maniliness' for lack of a better word. I wonder if the NFL would sit on that kind of thing or censor that under the guise of protecting gay players (after all why have they not come out yet) when in reality not wanting to tarnish that history and legacy in the eyes of some. I wonder if the players know there are gay players in the league but nobody speaks on it.

at the end of the day the NFL is big business. the Dallas Cowboys are the second highest valued sports team I the world. it's going to be very interesting to see how this all plays out.

for some strange reason I view the NFL as very much a good ol boys club. the last bastion of inequality in an otherwise progressive society. if just has that feeling to me. how players hold coaches and owners in such esteem and regard to the point of being father figures etc. that loyalty could have possibly bought silence regarding the issues I think we're going to see unfold.

don't forget Martin still hasn't spoken publicly either. no telling where this goes one he speaks up. if he comes out this could be biggest sports story in a very very long time and it's implications hard to imagine. I don't think it would change the fabric of the game at all and in fact I think not many people would care. this isn't 1970.

NFL set a dangerous precedent by NOT suspending Riley Cooper of PHI for using the n-word on video like he did.  Why? 

Cause now they cannot suspend Incognito for it. 

They CAN suspend him for "I'll shit in your mouth and kill you" comment... but then we have to start suspending every NFL player who threatens another?  It happens a lot - Incognito is banned for life, then there's a lot more other people that need to be banned for life.

They can't suspend him for the gay comment without having to talk about it - and it seems the NFL is trying NOT to do this.

MY GUESS is that the NFL - due to their history of looking the other way, forgiving major offenses, and selective enforcement, is in a really messy spot now, and Incognito actually WILL be back in the league.  That's my guess... He didn't drive drunk and kill anyone, he didn't put his hands on anyone.  He used bad words - but they didn't suspend others for this word.  He threatened a teammate - but opposing players do that on a weekly basis, we know this - stephen jackson told us about this 2 weeks ago, some dbag defender googled his wife and certainly bullied him with those comments.

The 2nd half of the season is easier , although with an already crappy offensive line and now their 2 starters gone, it ain't gonna be easy for Tannehill! They're in the playoff hunt for sure. They're near the top of teams alive for the wildcard. They're back at .500 with 8 games left in a wide open AFC.  I'm not saying they'll put it all together, but their second half of the season appears slightly more favorable than their first half considering they're playing teams like the Bucs and Steelers.
