I like doing barbells most of the time with half=reps, not taking the bar all the way up. I use dumbells once in a while for a change. My chest is the worst bodypart.

People usually say this because they are embarrassed about how much others will perceive their bench to be.  Usually, in this case, weak and inadequate to the observers expectations.  So, the only way to cover this completely up is to proclaim to anyone who asks, "No bro, its only dumbbells for Chest for me. I prefer it because it works better".  This way they can avoid underperforming to others expectations.

I think both are important. Concentrating on barbells only is a mistake because your stronger side will assume a lot of the work. Dumbells allow you to independantly work both pecs to complete failure. I will sometimes rep out on my left arm before my right because it is not as strong. Variation seems to work so dumbells, barbells, flat, incline, decline all work great.

I haven't benched with a barbell in months, all I do is one arm dumbbell floor presses. It prevents that last dangerous 2 inches of ROM that does fuck-all for the chest but grinds down the shoulder joint. Also I don't want to retear my pec muscle ever again

4-5 sets of 8-15 reps then a bunch of pumpy stuff with cables.

If I do 45 degree DB inclines I go light and squeeze them up, going over 100lbs on that lift almost always aggravates my shoulder.

disclaimer, my chest sucks and always has no matter what lifts or reps schemes I do.

I never use barbells for chest. This is due to shoulder injuries over the years, as well as trying my best to keep them as healthy as possible. Have never been incredibly strong at dumbbell inclines, nor have I ever tried to push it. I like to do them as slow and controlled as possible. I can definitely tell that there is a strong difference between contractions when going slow vs fast on this movement.
