I have a few "revelations" for people who never played proffesional sports but watched them from the livingroom sofa..

There is no such thing as fair play. Ever.

You are there to win and do whatever it takes to accomplish that. The big time is won by such slight margins that anything can help.

All professional athletes are great athletes. There are slight differences. The mental makes the difference day in and day out.

Some are introverts, some are extroverts. All are as ruthless as you can imagine.

I might smile and be gracious but I am demeaning you in my mind. Humiliating an opponent is the norm. Winners, step on your throat when you are down.

Top athletes are extremely competitive.

Stop trying to understand them through YOUR mind-set. Learn to think through THEIR'S (but that will never happen because you would not be reading this if that were the case  ;D )

No matter how powder puff the "sport" may seem, the competition is as vicious as in combat sports.

The powers that be are selling you these "combat rituals" as "fair-play" sports and a nice endeavour. Trust me, there is nothing "nice" about winning in big time sports. It's imposing your will over another's. No such thing as fair play. Of course, they are the biggest ipocrits fining athletes for unnecessary this or that and for "roids" when they should fire the whole NFL if that were a true standard.

They milked the idea of Lance Armstrong as an idol for years and years. They also took him down and made him nothing right in front of you. If you think these things are random, you are living a fairy tale that the powers that be use to mesmerize you into unconsciousness. While you are busy watching the next DARELL life happens and you don't even know it.

I love the guy.

He may be my favorite player in the NFL now.

Anyone who doesn't like him is just a hater and "most likely" a racist.

Sherman does sound like a jewish name.  So racist or antisemetic against original hebrew?

Pretty spot on Sev, but there ARE a few good guys out there. I raced stateside in Pro-Am cycling events with guys like Steve Bauer (Wore the yellow jersey in the TdF and Lance's team-mate) and Andy Hampsten (winner of the Giro d'Italia). Nicest people in the world. In races they were fair play all the way around.

They had a much more grounded view to life. Just saying.

This guy is defending him because he came from Compton? And then he went to Stanford and was a straight A student. Great. Wodnerful.

There are a lot of people from poverty areas who have made it into sports, business and more.

But to defend this guy after the pathetically trounced and ranted.  No way.  That was classless and sad.

And this statement - the most pathetic of all..

Quote
But in reality, what Richard Sherman did was teach us about ourselves. He taught us that we're still a country that isn't ready for lower-class Americans from neighborhoods like Compton to succeed.

This guy actually believes the crap he writes. Wow.  When I watched that guy rant, I didn't care where he came from, what color he was,  or if he had millions (which he does).  All I saw was a ranting of a man who lost control, and did not act with sportsmanlike conduct. That is it simple. And he apologized for it.

Why do athletes have to be stoic?  Aren't sports about entertainment?

Why was it classless, Ron?

I'm still confused why we expect "class" when someone called HIM out... talked shit about HIM. Then when he proved HIS WORTH, he's supposed to be all nice?

That's bunk.

He figuratively slapped Crabtree in the mouth and made him his bitch... because Crabtree didn't shut the hell up.

Why do we expect class after, but we are not holding the receiver of the beatdown to the same class before?

Seems we are ok with trash talking before, but afterwards... Oh now now... let's be nice.

I don't buy it.

Richard Sherman: Thug Is Now 'The Accepted Way Of Calling Somebody The N-Word' (VIDEO)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/22/richard-sherman-thug-n-word-press-conference_n_4646871.html

""The only reason it bothers me is because it seems like it's the accepted way of calling somebody the N-word nowadays," Sherman said during a press conference on Wednesday. "It's like everyone else said the N-word and they said 'Thug' and they're like, 'Ah, that's fine.' That's where it kind of takes me aback and it's kind of disappointing.""

He's right. Whites know exactly what they're doing when they use this word. If you've assimilated you get the honor of being called a black man and not a thug. Sherman is a loud mouth Hebrew that's good at talking shit. What else is new? Everyone knows a Hebrew or 10 that talks shit. We've always been a very rebellious and proud people. This shouldn't come as a surprise. Most of you here know that on occasion I have the propensity to talk shit at the same time you all know I'm not a thug. People need to learn to separate the two.

Should he be using the word to describe people he knows?  If the word really is that poisonous and he's angry that reporters are using it... why is he using it to describe people that he knows?

"I know some 'thugs,' and they know I'm the furthest thing from a thug," Sherman said. "

Because he's using the word in the true sense of its meaning and not a covert word for the n-word.

Wasn't this guy suspended for taking adderall?

Adderall. LOL. The league isn't allowed to say what he tested positive for, just that he tested positive. So every time there is a hit, the player will immediately put out a press release that it is adderall, the least offensive item on the prohibited drug list. It was PEDs. It's always PEDs.

And the fucking guy IS the best at his position. He can talk shit, but he backs it the fuck up on the field. The people complaining are just bitch-ass know-nothings that never laced them up. Fucking pisses me off how beta-fied this country is becoming.

I'll believe that when "you" (not you specifically Wigg) start treating each other like humans and stop living like animals in neighborhoods that look like cesspools.

People dont like when others remind them of their own mediocrity.

They also dont like it when someone is proud of themselves or thwir accomplishments.

This exactly
