Hi, I'm new to the board. I've been working out consistently for the past 6 months, but finally decided to follow a diet for the new year. I'm 26, 6'4" 200 lbs, always been skinny, but the years of beer drinking and not caring what I ate left me with a little extra fat in the stomach area. So my goal is to get rid of that first and then add the bulk. For the past week I've been following the sample cutting diet and I think I'm seeing a difference already. I've been eating 5-6 meals instead of 6-7, and have been sure to make sure I'm getting around 250 grams of protein a day. However, if anything, I've been eating too few carbs and fat, as I'm still getting used to incorporating yams, sweet potatoes, brown rice etc. I also am taking creatine. Anyway, just a few days into the diet I find that my sleep has turned into a coma-like experience. I simply cannot get out of bed until sleeping for at least 8-9 hours. I used to be fine with 6-7, but last night I went to bed at 2 am and didn't wake up today until 11:30, and only then because my roommate woke me up. I lift 4 days a week and do 30 min of cardio 6 days. Basically what I want to know is if this is normal, and if it is just my body adjusting to the new diet or if this is a longterm effect of the diet. Thanks in advance, lots of great information here!
