When Ali got up he gave Chuck a beating but Chuck fought back standing right in front of him. In the 15th round Ali knocked him down. Chuck staggered to his feet with seconds to go in the fight but the referee had seen enough.

Chuck had some hard times after the fight. He was approached to "fight" Andre the Giant for a wrestling match. Chuck knew nothing about the sports entertainment wrestling. He went along with the fake stuff not knowing what to do but when he was thrown around roughly by the 7'4" 500lbs plus guy he decided to hit him to inform him he was being to rough.  Andre got pissed off and picked him up throwing him out of the ring causing an unscripted chaos where everyone involved wanted to fight for real.  

Chuck the Bayonne bleeder Wepner. I remember watching that fight and my dad and my friends dad where amazed at the bloody beating he took and still kept fighting.

so his trainer died, very sad.  He lost a fight that, well, it was pretty obvious to everyone outside his bubble he was gonna lose.  

But he's still under 30 and a multi-millionaire.   Instead of waltzing around with Apollo, why not just call it a day and live the good life?

a movie like this really  makes me appreciate a dude like Floyd Mayweather...

He's worth $170 million and still finds the motivation to train hard enough to beat the best boxers in the world.

He's got more money than he can ever spend, and is still willing to work insanely hard, take painful punches, restrict his diet.

If I had that much money, it'd be a $19 steak + cheese danish + $8 bottle of Menage a Trois merlot, and I'd be happy.  No sense getting off the recliner and getting punched in the head a bunch of times.

But he is very motivated to fight hand picked fighter...they all were, Mike Tyson being the biggest example.. sorry to hijack the thread.

True! Chuck was the Bayonne Bleeder! Saw the Andre and Wepner at the Spectrum in Philly at the Spectrum on Closed Circuit! It was the undercard of Antonnio Anoki vs Ali!
