wearing now. The color and fit look great on me. Next watch will be a Hermes, in a year or two.

Most people try to buy flashy, gawdy looking watches to try to make up for the fact that they cannot afford a classy, expensive watch like a Rolex.

So they buy these watches to make it look like they have a lot of money.

I mean, why would you want to be such an extravagant, gawdy looking watch? Looks tacky.  :-\ :-\

Rolex are nice. But a total douche watch, and with the stigma of counterfeit rolex, everyone will assume yours is as fake as rich pianas arms.

IWC, or another Omega will be my next large purchase.

Another watch probably made by fossil.

Pro-tip...stick to watches made by companies that specialize in watches.

Protip. At sub $1000 retail, it doesnt fucking matter who makes the watch. It's not an ultra high end timepiece. A sub $1000 watch (retail) by a swiss manufacturer is nothing special either.

I do not even wear a watch. What's the point? Just look at your cell phone for the time.

x2. Watches aren't even functional in today's society. Just dead weight on the wrist.

the 300-2000$ retail dollar range is the most useless range in all timepieces.

youre overpaying for what you get regardless.

Stay on either side of those numbers.

some people have jobs that they need to be taken seriously at.

some people like nice things.

Not saying there is something wrong if those points dont apply to you personally, but there is a place for a standout watch.

So wait, a watch indicates that someone should be taken seriously? So if youre wearing an expensive suit, but no watch, you will not be taken seriously?  ??? ??? :-\ :-\ :-X :-X

I have a feeling that if Bill Gates showed up to work with no watch, he would still be taken seriously.

I know it sounds ridiculous. I can see where people that have never been in a similar situation wouldnt understand, but yes. Absolutely.

I size coworkers, associates, and people I have done business with, based on suit, the cut, cufflinks if wearing french cuffs, etc.

I had to go out and buy a 350 mont blanc pen when I get to a previous job because that particular "office" was big on pens.
The first time I signed something with my pentel gel pen my supervisor called me out on it for a week.

So if Bill Gates showed up to work in jeans and a t-shirt and no watch, do you think he would not be taken seriously?  :-\ :-\

Exactly.

This is the difference between people like Bill Gates, who have actual power, and people like you, who have to give off the appearance of power.

Bill Gates can show up to work in jogging pants and people would still "bow" down to him. It must suck to have to constantly try to keep up an appearance of power. How tiring that must be.  :-\ :-\

I guess. I do what I have to do to make the money and live the lifestyle I appreciate living. Tbh I dont mind it in the slightest.

That supervisor mentioned earlier was a douche, an incredibly successful, intelligent, and demanding person though. I was fortunate to work for someone like that. Great guy.

I hope one day you can reach a point to where you can show up to work wearing whatever you want (to an extent) and just be yourself and still be respected.  :) :)

I am glad to have a job where people care more about my performance than my look.

lol @ you being so broke you nitpick over spending a few hundred dollars more than it's true "worth".

it looks good, I like the style, I think it's worth $700. So I buy it.

When I drop $15k on watch next, I'll actually care about the quality and accuracy of what I'm buying.
