Best apples I eat are from a tree in my garden, dont ask me what sort it is I have no idea, the apples are a pink/crimson colour inside.

Do you put them in proper cold storage?  Eating them off the tree is not really going to work for optimum flavor.  They need time to develop their sugars after picking.  Its not like a strawberry you know.

Not even close.  Apples of different varieties have such distinct flavor differences, texture qualities and tasting notes.  An apple is NOT an apple.

True. I lived in a district with a large production of apples, in western Norway. Most of the norwegian apples are quite acidic, some are quite small. However, there was this one apple-three in my neighborhood with the best apples I have ever tasted. Incredible intense and rich aroma, sweet and with a pleasant texture. They were intensely dark red and har red "lines" inside throughout the apple. They were also quite small. To this date I have never tasted such good apples. :-/. The downside was probably that the apples did not keep fresh for long. Could not be picked early and stored.
