How many diff programs are you going to post...I am assuming you are pretty new to this game (or really indecisive) just use a basic program and stick to it

just use a basic program and stick to it

to put it more nicely....i understand the pitfalls of constantly researching new techniques and nutritional advice....while it DOES keep you "interested" in BBing, it borders on an obsessive disorder.  There is a reason people say consistency over time.  That is all you need to build muscle.  Consistency over time.

Davie: Good insight from Bear03 and Bossa. I know it can be confusing with all the 80% crap that is pasted off as training knowledge in most of those T&A muscle mags, but just staying  (for 6 month's or so) on a good basic program could work minor mircles for you.  Gain the muscle structure first and than explore other programs.(SS's, Tri set's, low/high reps, etc)  And if your on a non-productive weight training program, and not making any gains at all, than take a week off and go back to a basic, heavy short and intense program for a 6- 8 week period. Or until you come to your senses. And than try other way's of training, until you find the right one for you.

Side Bar:  Coleman, Cutler and all those other top BB'ers( and PL'ers and Olympic lifters) are a select breed apart from any normal guy. Even without  ever working out in their lives, they would be bigger and stronger than most.  They are the creme de creme, who gain muscle as easily as breathing. They also tend to have a bigger bone structure and greater natural ligament/tendon/joint strength. They could do body weight exercises only and gain muscle mass. These are the rare type's who can bench 300, when never having done that exercise before (like one of my cousins at 20 years of age..not perfect style, just raw power). Everyone has to discover their own system of training wheither  it be 3X3's, 5X8's or 15X15's. Trying to copy any one of the Pro's or other Top BB'ers is not always the best idea for your body type. You can only rise to you own top potentional, not their's.

Thanks JPM, i understand that. I didnt want to try that routine at al, i just read about it, and thought it was a bit crazy and posted it to see if anyoe else had ever attempted it.

Thats all.
My current routine is fairly basic  but due to school this semester im gonna b working out MON,TUE,WED and THUR (friday alota stretching and maybe bit of speed ball/bag work-rugby on sat,sleep on sun).

Workout is either gonna b
MON=shoulder/traps
TUE=chest/back
WED=legs
THUR=arms

OR

MON=upper
TUE=lower
WED=upper
THUR= lower.

Pretty simple, and once i decide which one im gonna do itl b heavy and hard work, and lots of food and rest.

Davie,

POF isn't too hard, and it works pretty well.  (See http://www.musclenet.com/positionsofflexion.htm for explanation and example exercises.)  Best way to think of it is to hit a muscle in three different positions relative to the body for full range of motion.  For example, for triceps if you do overhead extensions, Lying E-Z curl triceps extensions and cable pushdowns, you have hit the muscle at all three positions (arms overhead in line with body, arms perpendicular to body and arms down in line with body).  If you add a set of regular dips or bench dips, you add an extra position with your arms perpendicular to your body but pointed behind instead of in front of the body.

I've been getting good gains using a POF variation for pecs by doing dumbbell presses like this:

     Incline DB press (>45°) - includes the delts quite a bit, but still hits the upper pecs at a different angle
     Incline DB press (<=45°)
     Flat DB press
     Decline DB Press
     DB Flies (either flat or incline)

Might not be strict POF method, but has been working for me.

Don't over-read the 3 steps/exercises in POF.  Just be sure to include three exercises per bodypart with the muscle in three different positions relative to the body.

Any time you do the three different positions, Strech, contracted, and I forget the other but like a compound, your using the pof system :D I almost always do somthing like that anyway. If you do skull crushers, dumbell extentions, and rope over head extentions, youve just done 3 very simialar exercises.
But, do close grips, dips, and an overhead movement, and now youve got somthing, all different positions ;D Much more efective in my opinion.

POF is basically a more complicated version of the old Gironda Course a muscle has four sides.  You can buy the entire POF system (there's quite a few books) for about 100 bones or you could get Vince's course which is much easier to follow for about 15 bones.
