What's Your Strength...
« on: January 17, 2006, 08:54:39 PM »
in regards to training? There are "pullers" (barbell rows, pulldowns) & then there are "pushers" (bench press, military press). Which category would you place yourself in?Myself, I am definitely a puller more so than a pusher.Others here?

I'm definately a puller. My gf has been away for 2 months almost and I've been pulling the whole time.

Seriously, I have big arms compared to the rest of me, especially bis, so I'm better at back than chest.

I do however try to do all bodyparts evenly with equal intensity and I've been trying to bring up my chest strength.

Same here

Yeah, when I was a kid, all I did was bis 3 times a week. Then one of my mates told me tris wee 2/3 of the upper arm, so it was bis AND tris 3 times a week. Every now and then I threw in some legs or chest for shits and giggles, and then a bit of back until back became my fav part to train. Now I try to hit everything once  a week. My shoulders are pathetic, but like everything, they come up ok on a cycle.

haha blaster i dunno if the yanks on here would get that one.....

i'm a puller, although i've got a real solid incline bench/tricep press.  So far it's been shoulders that are my weak point in all aspects.  Working on bringing them up now.

Fairly even, though i am beaten by couple training boys from my gym at pushing exercises, but not pulling ones.
I have pathetic bench press, my incline db is better then my flat bb (confused-so am i).
i have good shoulder pressing and very strong tri's, but all in all id guess im slightly better at pulling.

My strength is definitely pulling.  When I do back I will do warmup sets of 20-24 with a 100 for bent rows very strict with a broad range of motion.  FYI, peoples of Nordic and Scandanavian bloodlines as well as northern German/British Isle are stronger in the back...glutes on up.  Watch any WSM or alike, even Olympic lifting you will get the notion.

Im definitely a pusher.....Back has never been quite as strong as shoulders (my strongest bodypart) or chest....thats the one thing im really workin on..adding both width and thickness to my back!

Pusher... my partner jokes with me that no matter what exercise im doing... im using my shoulders.  Im a small dude.. 5'4 150lbs.. shoulder pressing 80s and 85s.. benching a 1RM of 300.  Weak on biceps and weak on back.

I'd say I'm pretty even, although my biceps are and have ALWAYS been my weakest bodypart but grow nicely (I dont get it). I might be a pusher, I dont bench press but my DB Presses arent too shabby. My triceps are easily my strongest bodypart, 120lbs on overhead extension easy for 12 plus reps...I've been doing them one handed for a little while so dont know how many reps exactly. My back is actually pretty strong which is what confuses me the most on whether I'm a pusher or puller.

Overall, I may lean slightly to the pusher side.

I'm a puller as well. Always have lagged behind with strength on pressing movements.
