Shawn's arms were pretty good too and he says they were around 18".

Arthur Jones once measured the arms of Sergio Oliva and Arnold Schwarzenegger (two guys with some of the biggest arms ever) and they taped out at around 20" (Sergio's a little more and Arnold's a little less).

It's just funny how arm measurements have crept upwards over the years until now some pros are claiming 22-24" or more.

you'll notice most guys claiming arnie's were 22" and that that Jones measurement was "unfair"

there is a correalation between bodyweight and arm size 99 percent of the time, that's why i always laugh when a 220lb. pro claims 22 inch arms, hahahaha, ok.

he said "according to my tailor, they were 18"> taylors take an arm LENGTH measurement, not a circumference measurement. im certain his arms were over 18" during his hey day. his point was that he never measured them.

am i right, shawn?

When you diet down you lose at least an inch from your arms from fat and water. 18" at Shawn height is huge at contest time. He probably had 19.5- 20" arms in the offseason.

I'm about Shawn's height and I've had 17 1/2" arms but at 193lbs and not low body fat. I'm 173lbs now and my measurements are down.

that pic with shawn and the goofy glasses looks bigger than 18 inches

striations and veins do wonders for an arms look

you might have to buy one of shawn's books to get a true measurement $:-\$

Yo, the sport is all Illusion.
Do the math.
I competed at basically 210lbs my Off season weight went up to 235lbs
Sometimes they may hve pushed 20in but who cares, that had to be when I was off season, heavy for me, smooth, fat and carrying excess water.
Now fast forward 12 weeks, I lose basically 20-25lbs, temporarily.
Water, Fat, size it all comes off. Your left with detail, proportion and balance all of which when combined with a Pump, Oil, Tanning and the proper Lighting can make for an incredible Illusion of MASS!
At the end of the day, I never cared, the judges want to see the finished product.
We are scored on Appearance not Measurements so I never wasted my time then and now I wont waste my time here.

haha thats what my boss tells me all the time....im always happy that im gaining but under the water and fat i'd be small haha oh well whatever.

I don't think he was being funny, since he obviously doesn't have an arm LENGTH of 18"
