it contained a similar molecule that get's caught in the tests for meth while not being meth.
if the tests were smarter and distinguished these two it would still be legal. it was at least what I gathered from reading up on this..
on the other hand, whatever works in a supplement, they will ban. so it probably would have been banned anyway. they making it up as they go.
No, it wasn't due to false positives on drug tests.
WADA started finding this designer stimulant in athletes' urine. They will sanction athletes for substances not explicitly on the banned list. WADA was critisized for not warning athletes of taking Craze et al., not warning how it contained a substance not on the label, they just banned people. But OTOH the rules state that an athlete is responsible for anything they ingest, "mistake" or "not knowing" is no excuse. That's why they warn against using any and all supplements.
It's still not illegal per se, or more correctly it hasn't been determined if this substances falls under the analogue act, which means some substances can be classed as illegal drugs if they are too similar to for example methamphetamine. That's why Matt Cahill is still not in prison. There has been speculation that Matt is working for the authorities and has been for a long time, bringing down people selling Superdrol etc (which he himself used to sell)... and that would be a reason he's still a free man.
