It's a great concept, but it's always risky to be an early adopter while they're still getting the kinks out.
Give it another 5-10 years I'd say

If you say so.

Great point, especially since a gasoline fueled vehicle has never caught fire.  ::)

Yeah, much safer to buy a Porsche:

(Not the first time 911's got fire problems....)

What do the batteries cost and how long do they last?

Tesla gives an 8 year guarantee with unlimited mileage on the batterie, so no worries there imo

Ive checked them out as well, those things are awesome. You cant even tell the car is on csuse it is TOTALLY SILENT. The looks ergonomics and performance are all top notch.if i had the money id get onehave 3 in my garage already

Great car and supreme achievement by Tesla, but still some improvements to be made: bigger and taller seatbacks and headrests for example. And a safer barrier between the rear cargo space and the passenger compartment.

Paul Mutolo, of Cornell University’s Energy Materials Center, says that it has a range of only 141 miles. That's with no heat or air conditioning on, and driving slow.

Real world test of British magazine Autocar says 260 miles: test of the Tesla Model S vs an Aston Martin Rapide:

(In Holland Tesla has sold more than 1000 Model S cars so far, I know, small country and mostly flat, but still, fabulous to see so many of them around!)
