I was at a bench / pull competition as a spectator a few weeks back in a big city, lots of gyms, big guys etc...
ONE guy did a legit 402 bench press- competition-( 100 kg weight class, in a tested fed.) a few guys were in the high three's, most were in the lower three's
Point being, a LEGIT competition 365 bench or higher is a heckuva lift
How many guys on Get Big can hit 365 or better with good form- ? Maybe 10 ?
I don't know if I agree with this. . Most guys are familiar with Block periodization.how high level powerlifters and athletes train and .it goes like this.
accumulation phase
transmutation
realization (de-load phase)
the realization phase or de-load whatever you call it allows for a period of super compensation. This is when you peak for a meet. Your lifts will be a lot more than you would normally be capable of. Add cheque drops, pre lift physche ups, these guys are getting a lot out of their lifts. Nothing against the sport but to me that's bullshit. ..true strength is what a guy can do any given day, at any given time. That's the reason ronnie and kevin levrone's lifts were so impressive to me. These guys were tired...detrained..not even training for strength and reaping 500 like paper.
