"Bodybuilding-style benching" is the fastest way to destroy your shoulders.

Ever since I learned how to press properly, my shoulders NEVER ache, in anyway.

Basically, understand the importance of positioning your shoulders behind your chest. Pinch your shoulder blades together and keep a moderate arch (unless you desire to develop an extreme arch, as some do) in your back. And, as said, tuck your elbows.

Oh, and has also been said, have your lower pec line/upper stomach as the touch-point.

Bam ... more poundage moved and less shoulder stress. 


This, I learned the hard way too and fucked up my right shoulder.

I find DBs are infinitely easier on my shoulders than BB

Especially if I'm doing 8 reps for mass or 12 reps for cuts

A friend of mine who started training recently actually was doing all that bro-science bullshit. He told me a few months back that for one week he does 6-8 reps to "build size" and the other week does 12-15 reps for "definition and sculpting".

I just starting LOL'ing. He looked at me all confused because he was being dead serious.
