And the end of the day he abandoned his daughter by committing suicide.  He took the cowards way out.

Wait, she's just paying him back his own money?  He put everything (including an F1 team) in her name so that if he died she wouldn't have to pay estate tax.  Now she has to give him back his empire one month at a time... Good grief.  6'2" whadda mess

 Not just a f1 team. ;)

Dig deeper boys.

The problem isn't marriage and it isn't women. It never has been. That's the symptom of a societal problem.

The problem is rampant consumerism, driven by a ruthlessly utilitarian approach to all things (i.e. all things can be bought and sold, and all things can be reduced to a utility value...in short, everything you have or want can be valued at X dollars).

We've fallen in love with acquisition. We believe all the things we'll ever need in this life can be easily purchased.

You might say only a fool believes all things worth having can be bought, yet we must then admit the entire western civilization is populated by a steady stream of fools. Because we truly all do believe this. How many threads are we going to have on this site alone where we lament that some "10" female has been "bought" by some oligarch.

We all believe this, and act accordingly.

And this, my friends, has led to the corruption of the union of marriage. Women are led to believe that their companionship should be purchased, and can be acquired for the right amount of money. Should someone offer more money (or the current suitor not offer enough) then the consumerist relationship ends in divorce.

Likewise, men treat women the same way; if she doesn't succumb to his needs for all that he provides, he seeks to end the relationship.

Men simply lament the olden days when the consumerism of marriage tipped in their favor. With a more egalitarian approach (perhaps, even tipping to favor women), men are left holding the proverbial bag (a position held by women for millenia).

Am I absolving women? Absolutely not. How about men? Nope.

We are all to blame.

We are all slaves to the things we see on TV; the rampant desire to acquire is symptomatic of a void that exists in us all. A void that can only be filled by true human connectivity. Stripped of this basic human need, we fill the void with shit from Ikea, or a stupid new Infinity, or a house with 4.5 baths and 3-car garage. We slave away in jobs we hate just so we can stuff our bank accounts with money to buy this crap in the hopes that it'll make us feel something...anything.

The truth is, our answer is all around us. Find a good person who eschews materialism, and for christ's sake, hang on to them with both hands and don't let go. Not for anything. They are the only thing worth hanging on to in this world hell bent on buying itself into an early grave of anonymity, heartlessness and emptiness.

It's still not too late to get married to a good person. You just have to be choosier than ever. There aren't a lot of good people left. For all I know, you might not be one of the good ones anymore. Shit, maybe I'm not either. But I like to think and dream that I can be if I remind myself what's right, what's important, and what brings real meaning to life.

Hint: it's not your granite kitchen countertop or your Lebron sneakers or the new stereo equipment in your Mercedes SUV.

I was just about to pull the trigger on a $280 Wilson A2k 11.5 inch Brandon Phillips' infield glove for my son and you went and fucked it all up.

Thanks.

Never stop fighting.   Maybe one day he and his daughter could have established a relationship, perhaps when she is eighteen, but that will never happen now. He killed himself to spite his exwife and not as a moral protest against the family court system.
