I will be seventy years old late this summer.

The best tip I have for training is to be consistent...

Totally agree.

The thing about getting old is that those of us lucky enough to have lived a long time know that many people aren't so lucky. If you should be so lucky, you too will appreciate the journey. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, younger people today often will not live as long as their parents did nor ever be as successful. It's a real shame.

America is not a place to grow old in...Start shitting your manties and most families throw you in a old age home where you will be forgotten for the most part.

Family commitments aren't what they once were that is for sure. Not all families are so disconnected though. Our family is very close and we have been their for each other in times of need. Just tonight I got a call for the hospital social worker that my sister was in the emergency room at the hospital. She had taken a really nasty fall exiting the bus earlier today and was badly bruised. She is here with us now and will stay for several days while she recovers. We are watching her for signs of a concussion. BTW, my sister drives me crazy and yet here she is. It what we do as a family, we take care of one another.

There are times when skilled nursing is necessary. For example, following my wife's recent bout with acute kidney failure which landed her in the hospital for two weeks, she was in a skilled nursing facility for three additional weeks until she was strong enough to come home. When she came home, it was such a relief because I was spending a lot of time on the road driving back and forth to the nursing facility and taking her to dialysis. Even when your sick, there is no place like home.

Truth. Most multi generation American whites and some blacks do this. Our newer citizens uphold their Euro, Asian, Hispanic, and Middle Eastern culture and revere and care for their elderly. To this I say...way to go!! My paternal grandfather died at 84 in his bed in my home. My maternal grandfather 93 was shipped off to a home by my mother where he died of a broken heart. My parents died suddenly before any decision was made where they would live. Me...stick dynamite in my ass....take me in the woods and light.

Sure, make a mess for someone to clean up!  ;D

In a youth orientated culture, there is definitely nothing pretty about being old. Lucky me, I don't have a "chicken neck" or some of the other less attractive features of being an old fart. I suspect there is a portrait of me in the attic somewhere that is grotesque while I still look amazingly young for my age.....this is a joke, btw!

Some great thoughts and perspective in here so far. I made it further than I should have. I am doing everything in my power to move further along. Along the way I have produced a great son and his great children, two estranged daughters, escaped a bad marriage, out lived second wife of 44 years, seen a lot of the world, been homeless, been rich, had a 16 year old nympho GF at age 27, a 39 year old nympho GF at age 70, been near death flat line with paddles in ER and 3 transfusions bringing me back to life, 60 years of bodybuilding, won a couple of nice titles and a slew of seconds at National level shows, ripped my pec off the humerous bone at 71, stopped bodybuilding at 72, started mountain hiking 6 mi. per day, published, raced cars, ski patrol for years, picked up a Masters in Nutrition, married now to an 18 years younger wife, I need the blue pill, into RE now.....yeah, life has been interesting alright.

And I have no advise.

Is this shit for real?  ??? If so (I don't have time to weed out the trolling/semi-serious trolling/etc, currently) - you have an exceptionally sharp brain at the age of over 70... no wonder you've managed to experience quite some stuff.
