Did he row the bar to his chest whilst ripping the bar apart? Failure there may have been his downfall.

I feel he would have avoided the incident if he would have tried harder to rip the bar apart.

For the next few months he should practice planting the balls of his feet firmly under the couch and visualizing "snapping a pencil" while lifting the remote control.

As you all know...I'm a dick and have a big mouth.  (Insert gift joke here)

Thing is I seem to have accepted a challenge from a rather large,  strong, lifelong powerlifter....to a bench press competition. We both turn 50 in June , that's kinda the crux of it.

I have no idea of his max, be seems about the same as me, probably higher max because he has way better technique.  It's friendly, he's a cool guy...but fuck that I want to win...and I'm sure he's thinking the same thing.

I'm taking Superdrol ( ha ha fuck him)  ...need some technique/training .pointers.

Once all the smartass comments are over (couple more pages prolly), let me know if you'd like to know how to really do this without getting hurt, or making a fool of yourself vs. a guy who does this all the time.

And how much time do you have to prep?

What techniques did you deploy to decimate all those naturals while your were sauced to the tits?

Ah cool, interesting thanks!!

forces your elbows in and creates external rotation in the shoulder. more stable, stronger position, and much much less chance for injury.

strong triceps = strong bench.

benching for strength/poundage and benching for chest growth are two different things.... like squatting for strength/poundage and squatting for quad growth.

In Poland we bench 2-3 times per week, usually 3 because benching is fucking easy and triceps/chest recuperates fast.

Here is programme I got from natural powerlifter sporting 480lbs+ bench press:

week / day1 / day2 / day3 + paused narrow grip bench, it's in KGs and for designed for 140kg bench press max. Just multiply everything by your max/140kg if you wanna use it.

1. 120 5x3 110 4x5 105 6x6/95 4x4 pauza 2s

2. 115 3x4 125 3x3 110 3x6/97.5 3x4 pauza 2s

3. 130 2x2 115 4x4 125 4x3/100 3x3 pauza 2s

4. 120 3x4 115 4x5 130 4x3/102.5 3x3 pauza 2s

5. 120 2x5 135 2x2 115 2x6/105 3x3 pauza 2s

6. 135 4x2 125 3x5 130 2x4/107.5 3x3 pauza 2s

How to bench press?

You must by all costs learn how to arch your back. First try to lay on the bench with legs slightly behind the bench. Feet solid on the ground. Then slide yourself in the directions of your legs slightly, legs still in same position as before, ass NOT on a bench. It will look like gymnastic exercise:

0:11, not sure how it is called in English. The only difference is that your upper back is on the banch. Then you ask someone to "give" you your barbell. It is very important because with heavy weights you won't be able to hold your position if you unrack the barbell all by yourself. position it just over lower portion of the chest, preferrably over the line where your chest meets the abs. Slow negative and on the positive portion of the movement always remember to press "forward", not "behind". You don't wanna be over your upper chest at the end of the movement. Straight line = less distance = less effort = better result.

Good luck.

I "sauced" once when I was around 19-20. My AAU powerlifting stuff was in my late 20s early 30s. Looooong time with no drugs. But thanks for asking.

I only managed 405 x 1 today after 4 weeks off. But hey, not bad for almost 52.

Had one of my lifting buddies tear a pec last night. Strong kid, very good bencher for his weight. 4th rep on 375 and RIP.
