I was pretty traumatized, I recall. Hadn't seen such stuff before. Something extra disturbing about suicide, considering the mindset and all. Think I was 19 or so.
Yeah, it was the only suicide I can remember form my childhood, aside from fckers jumping off the Y-bridge in Akron, OH, all the time and landing on houses below. Pricks. If you want to kill yourself, fine, but aim for the ground, will you? Don't ruin someone's home. With the budd thing, the voices and profanity in the room... I think the news paused audio and let you hear the shot, screaming, etc. Lots of cussing, I think. Video later, it was gruesome, blood everywhere, nothing hollywood about it.
In retrospect, I have to respect Budd just a little... he was almost 50 and facing 55 years in prison.
