It really comes down to money at the end of the day.If you are reasonably wealthy, you don't suffer from a lot of the downsides of having kids.I've been lucky enough to be in a position where it's been mostly upside. The wife never got fat, we still have plenty of spare cash, I go on vacations on my own without the family (as does my wife), I go out with the boys when I want - and the wife goes out with her mates too. Usually one of us goes out, gets shitfaced and the other will come and play taxi at the end of the night. Right now we are on vacation - just the two of us without the kids.Her family all live hours away from where we live, so I seldom have to bother with family events but I do like a trip to her moms in December.Obviously, it's not all roses but the positives outweigh any negatives. I think that this is mostly because of having money - we aren't rich by any means - but we do better than most.
