Men's Health magazine sells more magazines than all the bodybuilding magazines combined. No one is interested in drug bodybuilding anymore. Most people realize when they see a juiced bodybuilder how they got there even when they deny it because they want the credit.

but they don't realize all the fitness models got their muscles the same way, just different doses.

Sergio oliva and Serge nubret (both dead) never made the cover of Flex magazine

Both Oliva and Nubret were at their peaks way before Flex started publishing.

The first issue of Flex was April 1983.  Flex was a Weider mag and therefore IFBB only.  Nubret was persona non grata with the Weiders back in 1976, having entered NABBA and WBBG contests, and later forming WABBA.  The last Weider mag cover he was on was June 1972

Oliva had a more complicated relationship.  He was disqualified from the 1973 Mr International for entering Dan Lurie's Mr Galaxy a few months before.  But being the second Mr Olympia, Weider couldn't completely ignore him.  Oliva was on the cover of Muscle Builder in May of 1978.  After Flex began, Oliva was in the 1984 and 1985 Olympia, but coming in 8th was not going to get you on the cover.

1- Arnold was at his peak before Flex started publishing yet he's been on the cover more than twice....

2- Lou Ferrigno was in the 1992 and 1993 Mr.Olympia despite coming in 12th and 10th he was featured in the cover more than twice also.

I had a subscription to FLEX in the late-'80s.

Has everyone seen the "new" MMI issues? Bloody 'ell.

Not EVEN worthy of having Robert's name on the front.

Where do you guys get your diet and training info if you don't read Flex?  You might be missing out on some serious gains.

They had been "Weider Boys", and then crossed him.   Flex was an IFBB only mag.

We all know the internet , and low price supps at Walmart the lack of info/honesty on steroids among other things are taking the best of magazine industry. But Flex magazine despite being like 75 % adds. And having the best training articles pics etc.  Has taken an extreme measure .....

After charging subscriber a full year for 12 issues, it turns out that people will only get 6 issues instead of 12.
As of this month, Flex mag is becoming a ONE IN EVERY TWO MONTHS publication !!!

This months issue features Shawn Rhoden on cover is the July/August issue.
The end of the bible of bob publications as we know it ??

A low blow, a fraud ?

I'm damn proud of my collection. I have almost every edition of Muscle and Fitness from 1981 to 2008 and almost every Flex magazine from 1983 to 2008. A bookstore in my area was going to throw them all out, so I dropped a $100.00 and would have paid several more if I had to and took it off her hands.

There is this black and white picture of Arnold on a neon yellow and green cover from like 27 years ago. It's burned in my brain, a pivotal moment for me. I took it on a trip and was bitten by the bug.

I was surprised at how many covers Arnold has been on!

In it's early  years Muscle Media 2000 had some good drug info...then they decided to market HMB  ("feels like I'm on Deca") and everything quickly went to shit.
