It was more of a melee, rather than a riot, in my opinion. Mostly of bunch of young kids standing around daring one another to tip a shitter over, etc. The police really blew it that day. My man Michael used to love birds of all kinds.  He refused to eat pork on Sunday, though regularly admitted to his love of BBQ ribs and spicy pig butts, a bag of rinds from the gas station was known to be purchased when he stooped in as well.

Those shits were running by my house, getting in their cars, and peeling off. I was talking to one kid out front who had just gotten off work(a busboy downtown). He had just clocked out and stepped outside and started to get his ass kicked for no reason. For hours, I was watching the morons running by the house giggling and hiding when the cops were driving by. Weird night.  I was downtown during the day(about 4 hours before the melee began), and it just had a weird "feeling" like something was going to happen. A sketchy vibe that's hard to explain. HBPD really learned a lesson after that. This year's Open was way more under control.

I'll always remember how Michael volunteered at the nursing home. He never complained about giving sponge baths or emptying bedpans. And when one of the residents would run out of Swisher Sweets gentle Michael was always the first to volunteer to run down to the store and get some.

Big Brown never once used a porter potty or johnny on the spot.  He felt it was incredibly insensitive to use a persons first or last name when referring to a residence of dookie.  Although, it was said he would occasionally refer to the school restroom as, "Myron".

Young Brown dreamed of becoming a pediatric surgeon when he was 10 years old.  He felt compelled to inspire his community by not applying for work, thus, allowing his peers to have more job opportunities.  the Gentle Giant instead decided to stay home, and think positive.

   One Christmas when I was flying home I had a layover in St. Louis. Somehow I dropped my passport and wallet full of cash in the airport. I didn't realize it until my plane departed, and cynically assumed whoever found it would keep it. Well, boy was I wrong! The next day I got a call from a black gentleman by the name of Michael Brown.

   He found my passport and wallet in the airport and wanted to return it to me. I told him he could mail it to me, but he would have none of that. Michael insisted that he drive his grandmama's Buick Regal to my house to hand-deliver my wallet. I was stunned, and the next day sure enough Michael pulled up in front of my house.

   He returned my things and there was not a single dollar missing from my wallet. I thanked him and tried to give him $100 for his efforts, but he refused. He told me he was just a good, God-fearing Christian doing what the Lord would have wanted. Michael got in the Regal and disappeared into the night, and I never saw him again.
