Another POV from the libertarian right. I must ruminate on this. Very few folks have as much antipathy for a militarized police force as I do, so I am willing to evolve on this issue.

Assuming the jurors were acting in good faith (and there is no reason to think they weren't), the only explanation for their decision is that they lost sight of the task at hand and considered the evidence as if they were being asked to convict Wilson rather than approve charges that would have led to a real trial.

Quote
It is not hard to see how the grand jurors could have made that mistake. McCulloch said he would present all of the evidence collected so far—everything a trial jury would see and hear. The jurors convened on 22 days, hearing testimony that takes up nearly 5,000 pages of transcript, not including the various recorded interviews played for them. Instead of making the case for an indictment, as they ordinarily would do, the prosecutors running the show often seemed to be reinforcing Wilson's defense, as when they suggested that marijuana-induced psychosis might account for the ferocious attack that Wilson says he suffered at Brown's hands and for the heedless charge that Wilson says forced him to shoot Brown over and over again.

So now, according to this person, the jurors lost sight of the task at hand...and this blogger concludes that they made a mistake.

So, now it's the grand jury's fault, and they made a mistake. To me, this person loses credibility when he makes the grandiose statement, while not having all evidence and data in front of him like the grand jury did.

I can get behind an article that goes in more detail about how they feel that Wilson got a private trial. But, it seems like after Al Sharpton said it, people are now parroting those words

I think the rioters should be slammed with firehoses.
I think Mike brown deserved ten years in prison easily.

I think the cop exaggerated the SHIT out of his injuries, hammed it up, did the typical bullshit of "i was about to black out, and I feared for my life".  I cannot stand when zimmerman exaggerated on the 911 call, but at least he was actually bleeding from the fight.  Thie cop may have been punched twice, but fearing for his life, about to pass out an die?   And he DIDNT call in the initial shooting, he just ran 50 yards and finished the job with 6-7 more bullets.

I think the cop exaggerated.  Can everyone agree on that, at least?   Maybe he wasn't suffering from life-threatening injuries, and maybe he just hammed up that part to make the story better?

Do I think he took a tremendous beating? No.  But, I'm not going to second guess a single cop that is in a struggle with a criminal. All it takes is the right punch, or a trip, or a loose gun to be on the wrong end of a Worldstar video.

Yep. Michael Brown tried to play "the knockout game" with a cop. Not a good idea.

Darren Wilson says Michael Brown was goading him, saying he was "too much of a pussy to shoot me."

Wilson went through the events of the evening step-by-step ... prompted by ABC's George Stephanopoulos ... who, by the way, showed he's a great interviewer.

Wilson said it was either his life or Michael Brown's when he fired the shots in Ferguson, saying Brown absolutely did NOT have his hands up when he discharged the gun.

Then the cop should say that.  He shouldn't say he was fighting a demon, that he felt like a 5 year old against Hulk.

He should say "I fired because I didn't want to get killed", not some bullshit about fearing he was about to black out, etc.

OH, and the shady fcking shit about the "Fractured Orbital bone/socket" that the Ferguson PD released to FOX news, who repeated it over and over... that was an outright lie for public support.  Screw that.  Cops outright lying to better sell the shoot.  That's crap.  They take an oath to be that HIGHER standard, to follow a code of ethics that says they DONT play those games and LIE about facts surrounding dead citizens.

You can't lie about 2 or 3 things, and expect us to believe the other 10 things you tell us.  They lose ALL credibility.  Same with zimmerman's lawyer admitting he did lie about a few of the details of the shooting, but the rest (whatever hasn't been proven wrong) is totallyt true.

It gets stale when people use the race card at every opportunity as excuse for their behaviour or how things turned out in their lives.

They need to look within, stop blaming and take some accountability for their actions and were they are in life.

It's like being an adult and blaming your parents for the way you turned out.

We deserve what we get. There are always choices we all make in our lives and is within our circle of influence/power to change who we are and how our lives turn out.

This is why cops in Wilson's situation don't fuck around when you come after them.

I dont give a shit about brown and I"m fine if you firebomb the protesters.

But cops exaggerating shit?  That just makes my blood boil.  This cop was not beaten half to death, he wasn't suffering from broken face and fractured orbital bone, his eye socket wasn't cracked.

He got punched, he fired his gun and winged the dude.  Dude ran.  He didn't call it in. He jumped out, ran 50 yards to a wounded unarmed man running away fast, and he put 5 more rounds in the guy, the last one a shot directly to top of head.

Just say "he punched me 1-2 times, it hurt, I chased him down and shot him".

DO NOT sell us a bunch of horse shit about being about to black out from injury.  You don't sprint 50 yards and ignore calling in calvary if you're wounded and on your last leg.  You're embarassed and pissed - THAT is when you run soemone down and waste them alone.

Stop trolling you stupid guy...Wilson never said his face was broken.... he simply said he had been punched and feared the next could incapacitate him or worse.  He didn't chase down Brown and shoot him.  He pursued a violent criminal (his duty to do so,dumbass) and shot the criminal when he turned and rushed him.  Completely justified...

Officer Darren Wilson Suffered Severe Facial Contusions After Severe Beating During Mike Brown Attack
Missouri cop was badly beaten before shooting Michael Brown, says source

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/08/20/missouri-cop-was-badly-beaten-before-shooting-michael-brown-says-source/

?
Darren Wilson, the Ferguson, Mo., police officer whose fatal shooting of Michael Brown touched off more than a week of demonstrations, suffered severe facial injuries including a bone fracture near one eye and was nearly beaten unconscious by Brown moments before firing his gun, a source close to the department's top brass told FoxNews.com.

“The Assistant (Police) Chief took him to the hospital, his face all swollen on one side,” said the insider. “He was beaten very severely.”

The precise extent of Wilson's injuries are unclear. The source told FoxNews.com on Wednesday that the officer had sustained a fractured eye socket in the incident, and repeated that assertion early Friday morning, in response to a conflicting report on the severity of the injuries.

See, I have no pity for Brown.  I would give him life in prison for assaulting a cop.
And the protesters?  LOL I'd bulldoze them over.   But I greatly dislike cops that exaggerate when a person is killed - or media networks that allow the police dept to spread known lies.

But this is a coordinated press release - and repeated even as it was shot down - with a "source" and FOX news continually telling us this cop had a broken face and was close to unconsciousness.

Lesley McSpadden, the mother of slain Ferguson teenager Michael Brown, says the first public comments from police officer Darren Wilson added "insult after injury," following a grand jury's decision not to indict the officer in the teen's death.
Wilson's account "sounds crazy," Michael Brown Sr. told TODAY's Savannah Guthrie. It's "disrespectful," McSpadden explained.

Wilson said in his interview that Brown was the instigator of the incident, reaching for Wilson's gun and charging at him to the point where Wilson said he feared for his life.

"For one, my son, he respected law enforcement,'' Brown Sr. said in reaction to Wilson's comments. "Two, who in their right mind would rush or charge at a police officer that has his gun drawn? It sounds crazy."

Wilson said that Brown had a "crazy" look on his face and that he looked like "a demon" before Wilson shot him.

"When you have people of color be killed they try to demonize and play on the stereotypes, and they try to put the police officer who killed our children on a pedestal,'' family attorney Benjamin Crump told Guthrie. "It's just not right, and we have to fix this system."
