Phenibut for sleep / anxiety
« on: August 29, 2014, 06:59:10 AM »
Ive had trouble sleeping for a long time. I started taking Phenibut recently, and its awesome.
Deep, restful sleep, with very vivid dreams... I read some sites where they say it isnt good for a person to take this stuff.
But neither is staying awake 20 hours a day either.

Loving this stuff (so far)...

http://nootriment.com/phenibut-sleep-aid/

I take one 500 mg pill at night,a nd its lights out. Plus a 10 mg melatonin...

I use the SNS Phenibut XT 500

Taper off and on.  The body becomes attenuated to the effects quickly.

D,

Have you taken the melatonin by itself before?

Gotcha. I was just curious if it wasn't primarily the melatonin doing the work instead if the Phenibut.

10mg is quite a bit compared to what many folks take. I buy the 3mg lozenges from NOW, taking 2-3 at night - so I guess I come close to your dosage. I've read where some people complain of morning after grogginess when taking more than 5mg, but it's never bothered me.

I didn't even realize they sold 10mg capsules.

Glad it's working for you, though!

Yes, the Super Indo Kratom strain will relax you and then put you to sleep for hours at a time, causing some of the best sleep I've ever had. Different strains work in different ways. Some strains work best for energy, pain, mood elevation, relaxation etc...

Bearing in mind that individual biochemistry results in people responding differently to various stimuli, I used Phenibut for the second time last night and was THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED with its effect on me!!

Time to do more research on the demonstrated attenuation effects and withdrawal symptoms. At the absolute very least, I will ALWAYS have a couple of servings of this stuff on hand to use when "needed."

Thanks goes to Necrosis, who first told me of this compound several years ago, and to Powerlift66 for this thread. Both discussions convinced me to try the product, for which I am very grateful. Thank you, gentlemen!

phenibut is good shit.
2 caps, 2hrs before bed and it helps me stay asleep. Effect linger on for 24hrs, I'd avoid taking it more than twice a week to always work.

Other nights use benadryl
valerian root

just rotating those 3 work all the time, no crazy sides. Benadryl is the hardest to wake up from.

Some people also take GABA which helps them relax. I usually just take melatonin  or zma though.

gaba does not compare, half life much shorter as well. Stuff makes me think I'M gonna die when it kicks on.

ZMA should be taken by everybody, peanuts to use...

Good to rotate things, keeps the body guessing. I bought the "Now" GABA chews, which are fast acting to help get drowsy, but then the PHEN kicks in to help stay asleep.
I'll alternate with Valerian, Melatonin, and the liquid sleep stuff when desperate...

i use Benadryl, Doxylamine and occasionally Ambien if i've got a weird sleep pattern going on. Only thing with the antihistamines is if i've been taking them for a few weeks and then stop, i'll have a few nights of no sleep before i can get back to a normal routine. Melatonin didn't really do anything for me.

How long did you try the Melatonin, and at what dose?

Some folks need to use it consistently for at least a week before noticing any effect.

The major advantage of Phenibut is that the addition of niacin (molecularly) allows the GABA to cross the blood-brain barrier, where it does it's best work.

pretty much! The phenibut does not do that and as Powerlift66 said, it helps keep you asleep. If you wake up, you can still feel it working and go back to sleep with no issues.

They make 10 mg dose of melatonin. I suppose that would be the most anyone should take.

I know a guy who takes 20!

I only tried it for a few days, first dose was just as directed on bottle: one 3mg pill, then i tried 6mg after. I felt like it just made me feel kinda weird.
I've still got the bottle of it though so could give it another shot. What dose would you say?

I never "recommend" or "suggest" anything on here, but I'll gladly tell you what I do anytime...

I typically take 9-12mg of NOW brand melatonin lozenges about 30 mins before bed. Granted, I still have the occasional night of shitty sleep, but I honestly feel that the melatonin helps. It is, after all, a hormone that our bodies naturally manufacture.

Sleep is CRUCIAL to humans, and I've discussed methods of improving sleep architecture on here over the years. I've burned through several computers in that time & lost lots of bookmarked pages, but you should be able to easily find said threads if interested by using GB's search engine with key words "Montague," "sleep," and "architecture."

You could also probably find some cool shit searching for "delta wave sleep" and "slow wave sleep."

Let me know if you have any other questions.
