Police decided to use a taser, but Smith asked the officers not to use the weapon because Jennings suffered from seizures and had heart problems. So, police decided to fire beanbag rounds at him instead.

Any gesture can be construed as a threat. Its all subjective, which means it gives cops free reign to blast anyone away. Cops are going to twist everything around to make a situation seem more deadly, in order to justify their extreme measures.

our thoughts and prayers should be with the officers that were forced to make a tough decision, and have to live with that forever.

No, they were lethal in this instance.  The police were called to the scene of reports of a man with a gun.  The aunt said he may have a gun or weapon.
