Show and prove your statement about AR sites deregulating. Can you find any studies that measure the number of sites pre AAS use and post AAS use? Otherwise, you are just promoting a myth.
Receptors don't "burn out" like a fuse; although they can become damaged, it's not due to action with the agonist (the thing which binds the receptor, in English). Receptors for steroid hormones exist inside the cell, since the steroid can freely diffuse across the plasma membrane and into the nucleus where it activates/represses these receptors via binding. Basically the more AAS use that exists in a user's system, the more receptor sites that is going to exist as well.
What the steroid itself does is bind to a given receptor in the nucleus (this is a protein, by the way), and allow it to associate with other receptors (more proteins). This dimer of receptors then binds to an enhancer/promoter region (or one that is both rolled into one) such as the SRE (sterol response element) and either activates or represses transcription of the genes immediately downstream.
The only true way to deregulate the number of receptor sites in the body is to come off AAS completely and over time the number existing will eventually fall as the body attempts to reset itself to it's pre-AAS use stage.
If receptors were desensitized or downgraded over time, HRT therapy for men simply would not exist. It doesn't matter that a pro may take megadoses of roids, it just means that pros will have mega amounts of receptor sites available in their body.
As far as Kamali, Kovacs, Dave and Nassar are concerned for looking like shit, that is not due to internal hormone influx, but because they basically looked like shit all along - Kamali, Dave, Kovacs. Nassar looks like shit, but hell he is oiled up with synthol and has not came within sniffing distance of his previous conditioning in the last years. Dave has conditioning down to a sick degree, but the man simply has an unpleasant bone structure to work with.
