Most pros burn-out due to injury and lack of interest in dieting for the time req....the receptor theory you speak of is a myth....health issues are another subject...on Kamali...he will never be more than hype...when it comes down to it he lacks the "put together" needed to put the heat on any of the top pros out there...all hype...

Actually deregulation and degradation of AR sites has been debunked as just a myth.  It is common knowledge that heavy androgen use actually increases the number of AR sites available.  When people get to a stage where they are upping the dose and not seeing any gains proportioned with the increase, 9 times out of 10 it is simply that the roids are not reaching the sites to activate.  Even if they do get there as in the case with heavy anabolic (low androgenic) users, the sites can fill up and there simply be no room at the inn for additional activation.  But heavy androgen therapy increases that.  If you are using strong androgens in large doses and not seeing gains, you are probably not eating enough.  Injecting the roid in the muscle isn't all it takes.  Once it reaches the bloodstream, roids must travel and reach the AR sites.  The only substance in the body that is capable of picking up roid molecules for transport is the protein molecule.  Nothing else can carry it.  Not red blood cells, not plasma, only protein molecules.  If you don't have enough binding protein levels in the body, the roids are basically sitting at the busstop for a bus that isn't coming.
I am convinced the protruding stomachs nowdays are more a direct link to IGF-1 and insulin use than GH.  Even in the late 80's bodybuilders were using GH on a regular basis according to former pros.  Yet you never really saw such distended guts until after the Haney, when more insulin and IGF-1 became harnessed in stacks.  Insulin in small doses (under 15iu per day) can help move your bodyweight up, but if you start putting on fat from it, that a bitch to shed off.  For some reason it terribly stubborn to lose.  I would use it only post training, but some people use it prior to breakfast too, and in about 90% of the ones I know personally that do this, they end up with the beginning of love handles very soon.

I've seen arguments for and against, but nothing that can applied to real world use.

So you're telling me that Nasser, Kamali, Palumbo just aren't eating enough?  That's why they're regressing in both muscle size and overall density?  I seriously doubt they have cut back on their AAS usage, so what is the cause?

Until I see some clincial studies relevant to the target subjects, namely bodybuilders or lifters in general, I'm not really taking your "debunking" under serious consideration.

You give me real world explanation for why these guys peaked early when they started megadosing young and I'll take what you have to say seriously.

Until then all you have is an opinion, just like me.

Show & Prove.

Kamalis best claims are that:

he has 22" arms
a 58" chest
cam dumbbell row 300lbs for reps
deadlift nearly 800lbs
he WILL be Mr Olympia!

Show and prove your statement about AR sites deregulating.  Can you find any studies that measure the number of sites pre AAS use and post AAS use?  Otherwise, you are just promoting a myth.

Receptors don't "burn out" like a fuse; although they can become damaged, it's not due to action with the agonist (the thing which binds the receptor, in English). Receptors for steroid hormones exist inside the cell, since the steroid can freely diffuse across the plasma membrane and into the nucleus where it activates/represses these receptors via binding.  Basically the more AAS use that exists in a user's system, the more receptor sites that is going to exist as well.

What the steroid itself does is bind to a given receptor in the nucleus (this is a protein, by the way), and allow it to associate with other receptors (more proteins). This dimer of receptors then binds to an enhancer/promoter region (or one that is both rolled into one) such as the SRE (sterol response element) and either activates or represses transcription of the genes immediately downstream.

The only true way to deregulate the number of receptor sites in the body is to come off AAS completely and over time the number existing will eventually fall as the body attempts to reset itself to it's pre-AAS use stage.

If receptors were desensitized or downgraded over time, HRT therapy for men simply would not exist.  It doesn't matter that a pro may take megadoses of roids, it just means that pros will have mega amounts of receptor sites available in their body.

As far as Kamali, Kovacs, Dave and Nassar are concerned for looking like shit, that is not due to internal hormone influx, but because they basically looked like shit all along - Kamali, Dave, Kovacs.   Nassar looks like shit, but hell he is oiled up with synthol and has not came within sniffing distance of his previous conditioning in the last years.  Dave has conditioning down to a sick degree, but the man simply has an unpleasant bone structure to work with.

If the main and 'only' reasons Kamali isn't doing as much damage in the ranks is due to 'burnt out receptors', then you're really blaming him for starting crank too soon, perhaps too much.

But your theory falls apart, Division, when you apply it to the MANY other bodybuilders out there who, like Kamali, have been using drugs since EARLY in their careers...

...namely, JAY CUTLER.  Last I checked, he's number 2 in the world, and nobody's been cranking longer than him!

I'm gonna chalk it up to a lot of reason Kamali isn't as competitive, but not from 'receptor abuse'.

He started so young that his receptors are burned out, and that's why he's regressing now.  He burned out too young, too fast.  He peaked a few years ago and it's all downhill from here.
That's why I tell people not to start AAS until their mid-twenties.  Muscle maturity will come even if you are natural, but once you start using AAS at the dosages required to compete at the pro level there is no turning back.  The is an elevator you don't get off of until you retire.
Unfortunately for Kamali, that time is near.  He's done.

Hopefully U won't have be eating your words after the NY Grand Prix in May.

Sorry, I didn't proof read my initial reply.  I hope you won't be eating your words after the NY Grand Prix in May.  I've seen some pics of him from his training partner, and at 290lbs a few months ago--he was hard-and much leaner at that weight than previous years.  Now you mentioned about burning out the receptors--I agree with you on that theory.  But King is working with a different trainer/nutrionist who has altered his AAS program completely in half as to what CN had him doing.  In addition, he has switched up some things in his training to help improve certain weak points.  For example, his outer sweep on his quads sucked---not anymore---due to narrowing his stance on hacks & leg presses.  Preachers curls (barbell/dumbell) to help the lengthening of his biceps.  Intense cardio in the off-season, eating cleaner.  I'm not saying that he is going to win the Olympia, but he will do much better than past performances.  Plus that insane dehydration & carb-up method previously used by him will be out the window.  Like I meant to say, I hope that you won't be eating your words come May.

You cannot change the lenght of your muscles , if that was the case many a bodybuilder would have low calves instead of high ones , so thats impossible .

LOL LOL..The old "receptor" downregulation myth.
This Bullsh*t has been repeated a billion times on the internet.

Receptors don't "burn out", that is patently ridiculous.
More muscle=more receptors = the need for more juice to activate the increase in receptor sites.
It's not like a molecule of AAS is constantly attached to the same receptor for very long anyway!

If the AR "burnout" (LOL) theory had any validity at all, then no one would go bald. Scalp receptors would burn out as well and stop responding to the DHT attaching to the AR on a hair follicle....and the follicle would again return to it's once mature state.
Of course this never happens because receptors don't burn out.
