AJ I am not an anti-semite, I like and appreciate the Jewish people in general. My problem lies with these politicians that put another country constantly before their own. Israel has a massive influence over congress and the parliment in my country, England. These are just the facts my friend and I would rather you didn't interpret it as 'hate' or 'anti-semitic' or any other easy, off the rack label.
Maybe Ted Cruz is the exception and an honourable man, it would be wonderful to think such a rarity could exist in politics. My instincts tell me that he is just a savvy salesman however and is following his nose to where the real power and money come from.
Please explain how Senator Cruz was "putting Israel in front of his own country" in any context.
There are many reason to support Israel that don't include "the Jewish lobby" paying off folks. It's actually really sad that I need to enumerate them for you. But I will.
Politically:
- they are a functioning democracy in a sea of totalitarianism
- they are a co-equal recipient of terrorism worldwide
- they are one of our ONLY true allies in the world. The EU is full of cowards, period. If there is a fight, at this point the only friend we could count on is Israel, and we are burning that friendship fast.
Religious:
- in the Old Testament, God proclaimed the Jews "the chosen people of God" and that has NEVER been rescinded. American fundamentalists take that very seriously.
- they are the caretakers of the holy land and do a good job. The Palestinians make sport of destroying Christian monuments.
So yes, I find your knee-jerk reflexive hatred of Israel offensive. But all of you have proven time and time again that you don't understand Americans either.
Just sit back and have another bonbon while America saves the world from darkness again. Don't bother to say "thank you" when we are done, we know you won't mean it. Just pray that someday we don't grow tired of your sheep-like bleating and tell you to fuck off.
