There are many reason to support Israel that don't include "the Jewish lobby" paying off folks. It's actually really sad that I need to enumerate them for you. But I will.

Politically:
- they are a functioning democracy in a sea of totalitarianism
- they are a co-equal recipient of terrorism worldwide
- they are one of our ONLY true allies in the world. The EU is full of cowards, period. If there is a fight, at this point the only friend we could count on is Israel, and we are burning that friendship fast.

Religious:
- in the Old Testament, God proclaimed the Jews "the chosen people of God" and that has NEVER been rescinded. American fundamentalists take that very seriously.
- they are the caretakers of the holy land and do a good job. The Palestinians make sport of destroying Christian monuments.

So yes, I find your knee-jerk reflexive hatred of Israel offensive. But all of you have proven time and time again that you don't understand Americans either.

The Russians completely eliminated whole German armies. Ever hear of Stalingrad? The Russians won WWII, which is why we didn't say shit when they claimed Eastern Europe as their prize. By the time we got involved in Europe in 1942, the Germans were spent in the west. The only reason we landed in France in '44 was to prevent Stalin from reaching Paris and not having any role whatsoever in post-war Europe.
