I absolutely agree with you. The notion that bigger always is necessarily better is messed up. Having said this, it suspect that it is difficult for competitive bodybuilders to set themselves apart and standout among the crowd onstage. After watching the 2014 Olympia replays, I found it difficult to pick anyone out as a clear winner. The 212 group overall looked better to me than the big guys did. Maybe that's just a matter of personal taste or it is because I am personally all about being healthy and fit and the really big dudes don't necessarily look like healthy specimens.

Learn how to do the mandatory poses correctly.
Develop a proper posing routine.
Learn to hold your gut in.
Cut off your 5 foot long ponytail
Smile.
Develop the small detail muscles so you look complete (calves, forearms, etc.).
Pointing at the audience with your index finger is NOT a pose.
Stop fucking citrus fruit.
