Any arc welders out there? Or even someone familiar with basic arc welding with a 1018 rod could probably make one of the curl bars from bar stock or even heavy tubing. Nothing fancy, but functional. Auto wreaking yards are great places to pick up scrap rods, etc....... if low on cash.
Going to a fab shop might be an option also, though better to have the bars cut to size by yourself (could use a hack saw..which can give another benefit of getting a great pump for the pump freaks out there). Or have the shop cut and fit the pieces depending on the cost.
Shipping cost for just about anything, maybe more so for exercise bars & plates, can be almost as much as what you may be buying then for in the first place.

Yes that can be made very quickly and cheaply, with about £100 spent on box section and 1 inch tubeing could knock up 6 to 8, they probably cost less than £20 a piece to make
