I'm a mild-mannered white male, and cops usually address me as "sir"....still, whenever I get pulled over I keep my hands on my steering wheel, with my license and registration in my left hand. Why give them the opportunity?
THIS. I follow every law. But when I get stopped, I turn off car, get papers in hand, turn on overhead light, lower window and keep hands on the wheel.
When cop asks to see paper, asks about gun, etc - I always say "I have my permit" (indicating zero criminal record) and then make ZERO move until I tell him I'm going to reach for this or that now. Then I wait for him to nod or whatever. Usually by then, he's done enough of a visual inspection to see car seat, lack of blounts or whatever they look for, and less likely to cap my ass.
Most of the time, cops don't even bother asking about the gun. If you have a permit, and you're 38, then you haven't done anything wrong for almsot 20 years, they are usually cool. I do'nt think I've had a cop be a dick to me in a decade.
it helps when the cop has thinner hair too haha, we men stick together.
