You can pretty much do both in moderation.

pretty much sums up my life.

and I'm about as godlike as they come.

'dedication' is for those who hold the belief that extra effort will be the difference between you and everyone else.

'experience' is knowing 'dedication' doesn't matter.

Can't say I've given it serious though, but I've quit bodybuilding a few times....called it a vacation.

It's not the food it's the time. I sometimes think about stopping to get more time in my day.

As a lifetime now middle aged natty, I'm really looking at diminishing returns now for the effort I put in and think about other things i could be doing instead, or spending more time on instead.

But I'm happier with my health and my appearance than when I'm not lifting, so I guess I'll keep going for the foreseeable future.

Don't you mean you are happier with your health and appearance when you are lifting?

Personally, I recently decided that it is good to adapt workouts and diet to one's age. I used to want to be big. Being big takes a lot of hard work, sometimes it means using steroids, supplements and eating like a maniac. These things eventually take a toll on our bodies. My current mind set is to be slim, fit and relatively fat free. To achieve this, I'm scaling back my workout routine, eating less and in general doing things in moderation.

Not at the moment. But I'm fine with that. My peak was when I was 29 years old, worked out 6 days a week at a ghetto gym and weighed 225 lbs. That's how I remember it. I was probably just fat.  ::)

Being jacked at 70 years of age is vastly different from being young and being jacked. I have no delusions about that.

I remember once I slacked off bodybuilding, I still trained but not much just every now and then and I was partying a lot with drugs and alcohol and eating shitty food, after doing this for a bit one day I looked in the mirror and saw this fat piece of shit staring back at me.
I freaked out cut off the party friends and bitches for a bit and went hardcore into the gym to get back my shape, now I just party 3 or 4 times monthly and I dont stay out later than 2am, I will never go down that road again.

At least I have the excuse of being old. What is your excuse? Mental retardation or insanity as a result of getting syphilis from several of those street prostitutes you supposedly frequent.

Compared to you, I am hardly fat.

As I said 100 times, I would never work out to be big. I work out because my body falls apart when I don't.

I "quit" on July 3rd.

It's good to take breaks for joint and connective tissue healing, especially after you hit 40 (currently 48).

I did not gain weight per se, but I definitely exchanged muscle for fat over the past several months.  Eating normally for the most part, 2-3 meals/day.  I actually save money because I'm not as hungry and don't need to eat as much when off.

Ready to go back next week.  First day will be leg day, not chest/back day -lol
