I've been married 5 years and while Oldtimers post scares the shit out of me as I too have seen that happen, I think there are a few things that must be done to as best as you can ensure a decent marriage:

1- Live together before marriage. A must to see if you mesh.
2- Gauge her willingness to do anal.

1- Living together does not help because they just "acting" to get your name on that marriage contract.  Once signed, you are legally and financially bound to her.  Pre-nups?... they can be circumvented by any crafty divorce lawyer.

2 - No fuck hole is worth 50% of everything you have.

Work with a couple of guys who were successful business owners, and lost EVERYTHING after the divorce. Had to start from the ground up. Feel really sorry for them both because they're both great guys. :/

At this very moment, my wife of 50 years and I are sitting in our hotel room which overlooks the Pacific Ocean in Cannon Beach, Oregon. The weather is windy, so the ocean is choppy. There is a Seagull on the balcony unsuccessfully looking for us to feed him. He keeps watching us an squawking at us. Oops, he just gave up and flew away.

We had a nice lunch this afternoon. Now we are just relaxing. Later we may get in the private hot tub or just lay around in bed and watch TV. Life is good.

I have seen it so many times.  A man gets divorced and loses his house and the good car to his wife. He has to dish out monthly money to his wife and kids. Now he's broke he goes from living in a nice house to living like a rat in poorly furnished apartment.

 Now he's an older guys with little disposable income and no house. The women barely look at him. He finds most of his friends fall to the way side because their wives side with his ex.

The wife on the other hand starts dating like mad going on dating sites and getting fixed up from her girlfriends. She has a nice house and money coming in from the husband. Whenever she wants to have wild weekends she drops off the kids to her husband if the kids are young. Marriage is a ridiculous proposition.  Especially if you have money and you're a man.  More than 50% of marriages fail they say.  But how many people do we know just stay in it even though they're miserable?  So the other 50%, which is being generous, maybe more than half are already miserable.  Probably another half are cheating on each other, a quarter of them are only together for kids, and half of a quarter of them are probably fags trying to stay on the low by having a family.
