That doesn't make sense, because Christians follow their religion just as seriously as Muslims.
I know atheists love to read the Bible and quote Old Testament passages about stoning, etc. but that was a completely different lifetime, different context. When has a person ever been stoned in the United States by the Christian church? Trying to draw parallels between Christianity and Islam is just illogical.
There is no question that today's Islam is twisted. Stoning women who commit adultery. Requiring a woman who is raped to have three eyewitnesses. Executing homosexuals. Some straight up caveman stuff. No reasonable person compares that kind of practice with what Christianity has taught for the past 2,000 years.
It;s illogical? to compare to prominent religions which are speak about many of the same things, even Jesus? you just proved my point with your time contextual argument, this shit was christianity during the inquisition. The states are relatively new compared to countries in the middle east, to compare practices in both is in fact illogical. It also proves my point, one is more advanced, that's it. One is taken as if it was literal, one is not, both use to be however.
A better comparison of religions by nations would be north africa and the middle east, in the north christians practice genital mutilation in large numbers. You also have a ideology in both which can be manipulated to meet ones own needs as it's up for "debate", some of it allegorical, some literal, all divinely inspired? you are also comparing two wildly disparaging countries, one in strife and war another at the pinnacle of civilization.
