Comment 1:

This has to be the 5th+ time this has been linked. The people in the video are doing a strongman lift called the continental with a large diameter bar, not a Olympic clean. What they are doing pretty much looks exactly what it's supposed to look like.

Strongman is all about lifting to the absolute limit of one's strength with objects that are difficult to grip/carry, as such strongman lifts pretty much always do tend to look really awkward to downright painful.

Most of the continental cleans don't look that bad actually. Not sure why this video gets so much hate, I guess because people aren't aware of the continental clean. I am not sure that I would ever teach somebody the continental clean unless they were training for Strongman, where they would need it. It just isn't a movement that will translate to anything else, and it really does hurt, lol. Here is me doing a heavy axle clean after a pressing day a month or so ago.

Ridiculous!  I always see people at the gym that look like they have never worked out before doing some kind of crazy ass move and making a big production out of it too.  The other day I saw a guy leaning forward on a flat bench with his legs straight out on his toes balancing on one arm and curling a 25lb dumbbell with the other and yelling with every rep!

I believe this but they are able to do that cause they have their bodies used to the demands of the training. their bodies adapted to handle the volume pace and workloads. once you body learns something it's very good at keeping w that level w moderate training to keep it there. in that I respect the upper level CFers cause they def put the time in creating those machines.

I pity the guy off the street who walks in and thinks he's going to get there on 2 sessions a week. all that he is ever going to accomplish is getting the shit kicked out of himself every time he goes.

you gotta build up the tolerances. if the frequency isn't there it'll nrver happen. it'll just run you into the ground.

I disagree. The concept about CrossFit is not specializing and by doing that you're well rounded. If you get to the elite of CrossFit you know the main contested parts of a competition and you specialize in that. They do not bodybuild or power lift as a means to get good in CrossFit.
