This is a lesson that must be learned, it cannot be taught. Starting as a "friend" seems so right to the young men that frequently get trapped. I fell into it MANY times in high school and even in college. If I could just travel back in time and deliver a roundhouse kick to my younger self...

I think of it like recruiting a star quarter back.

It's a double edged sword for me. I can't recall ever being placed in the friend zone of peace, but when a girl puts out very quickly (first 2 get togethers), the chase and most of the fun is over for me, and I'm looking for a new challenge soon after.

I agree with the above sentiments.  I don't really have women friends(with the exception of coworkers and some friends of the family and whatnot).  It really makes no sense.  And also if you hang out with buddies, you're always more likely to push yourself and compete with them whether it be sports, in the gym or picking up girls.  If I'm into a girl I will let her know ASAP.  If she isn't into me, then I don't maintain any kind of friendship....only a respectful "hey, how are you?" If I see them.

My sister put a dude in the friend zone back when we were in high school. She had a boyfriend named Chris and this other guy disregarded this fact and still pursued her with clear intention. My sis told him over and over it wasn't gonna go that way, but he would not take that for an answer. (To be fair, my sister should not have egged him on by hanging out all the damn time.)

This loser bought her endless gifts/flowers and would always appear on our doorstep with a dumb look on his fuckass face.
