Couldn't hurt

Figured this would be the case and as is common with such replies all my previous follow-up questions will remain unanswered.

I decided to keep my response simple and honest.

When we die our bodies simply decay and are gone.....the shell eventually turns to dust.  I dont understand all the medicine behind decay but in general that occurs.

I am a man of faith and as such believe the essence of each of us is our soul.  When we die that spiritual essenece or soul continues to exist in the presence of God or seperated from God.

I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.
Mark Twain

When you think about it, were basically already dead, it's already been decided more or less.

Our essence seems to be eternal and we can "feel" that there may be a lot more to it than walking the earth caught in a ham... and a meager or sick one if you're unlucky.
I have to search for the name/pdf of a book I've read some time ago which was written by danish dude who fled for Argentine.
He claimed that after he started speaking about the roots of our existence on TV he was "asked to leave"... not only the studio but the country. ... epic getbig attitude by the government.

Remote Viewing is another interesting phenomenon to spend some time when gauging the nature of life/existence.

ManOfSoil has strong faith which is a big plus and is way healthier than a nihilistic world view... add to that his healthy appetite and you have solid human being.  :D

Saying "conscience" is just electrical signal is borderline retarded! Even top of the line biophysicist and neuro-biologist are not sure of what makes us self aware and at most, we have elegant thories: http://journal.frontiersin.org/Journal/10.3389/fpsyg.2011.00004/full

What I never got is that I am still "conscious" even when my sense are totally deprived. That part, I never understood: no stimuli, yet there is a response.

I don't know what happens after death but I suspects something survives. I don't think evolution as an end, the universe is far too vast, complex and perfect in it's design to be just the fruit of pure chaos. Matter is self-organizing and most of the time, the most complex organisms seem to be more than just the sum of their part.

Besidesm there seems to have been a great number of people that "stumbled" upon a deeper meaning to our lives and have lived life that are, by all account, extraordinary (Jesus, Bouddha, Mahommet, Kristnamurthi etc...). Judging by their results and the peace of mind they attained, it seems to be reasonable that there might be something more than just the materialistic interpretation of reality.

But it is a very polar issue: believer and materialists will never agree on that, each having evidence to support their claim. In my opinion, saying science can explain everything is arrogant and borderline psychotic.

Consciousness is a quantum phenomenon, the human brain is just a vehicle through which quantum consciousness can access this physical realm. Religion is man's historical attempt to explain this phenomenon. When your physical body dies, your quantum consciousness returns to the non-physical dimension it came from.

I'm interested.  Would you define for me the terms quantum, quantum phenomenon, quantum consciousness as it pertains to your reply?

Would you also help me understand the non-physical dimension?  What and where it is?  How it came to be?

Hey MOS, do you believe in ghost?

As it pertains to spiritual, demonic activity.  I firmly believe the ghost sightings many have experienced is pure demonic activity.

In fact, all supernatural, occult experiences are grounded in demonic activity.

Certainly some are invented...I grant that.

I also completely believe in and have repeatedly experienced the tangible presence of the Holy Spirit.

nothing happen. You just disapear. Some say nothing happen before you die, when you re alive, that it's somewhat all in your head, things just are until they arent.

Why did it arise in the first place?

You answer is superficial, typical of someone with an average IQ.

There is no need to be a "why". The question why only occurs in humans, other animal species dont ask themselves "why". Our consciousness is a product of evolution, just like everything else. It serves an evolutionary purpose, it helps dominating others. Problem is when it starts destroying itself.

I warn you now, it is a heavy tome, but well worth the effort.

Would you also help me understand the non-physical dimension?  What and where it is?  How it came to be?

It is the land of the machine elves. I've been there, so can verify its existence:

Some have experienced sweet smells when in the presence of the Holy Spirit.  I have not experienced that, but I can assure you that none of my gas is sweet LOL!!

Jesus performed supernatural and occult healings, manifestations and so forth, suppose he gets away with it as he was/is the only son of god.

Pretty much. How can consciousness be conscious of itself... Intelligence cannot be self contained... yet it is.

I don't want to go all Jaden Smith here but consciousness is amazing to me.

When you die I suspect it's like what things were like before you were born, but I don't remember what that was like.

I remember swimming in the dark, really fast, surrounded by what seemed like a multitude of guys who looked just like me.  Sometimes I wonder whatever happened to all those guys.   :(

So a dead relative that visits you, is really a demonic creature ?

Interesting topic on different levels. What makes us "us"? Some would argue that it's the soul that gives us different personalities and makes us different. I've thought that true before, as I've thought there was an afterlife before. But these days I believe it is our brain with it's slightly different wiring that makes us individuals. If you have any doubts about that, you probably don't know anyone who had a serious brain injury that totally turned them from an outgoing fun person to a real asshole almost overnight. Total change of personality due to brain damage. I've also grown comfortable with the likelyhood that when we die, we cease to exist, just like before we were born. It ends there. I'm okay with that.
