I wonder how many minds of "alpha" males he must have shattered during his lifetime. ;D

Yes, Chris was very open in the interview and he had a lot of great stories about his contest experiences. I think he liked
going back through memory lane.

Chris was a better interviewee than I thought. Great physique too.

+: you let him speak and didn't interrupt him all the time as some interviewers do

- : audio (background noise)

Actually a really good interview. At first it drags but if you're into bodybuilding it's a great interview. He comes across as a decent guy.

It took him a few min to warm up but once we started talking about his past contests, he really came alive.

I'll fix the audio problems for the next interview.

I'm interviewing Mike Katz this week for our next episode. He should have some great stories about training with Arnold
and the book and movie Pumping Iron.

I have some requests. Ask him about playing in the NFL. Ask if he regrets not getting to that historic super bowl. Also how he feels about his portrayal in Pumping Iron. I saw him in person when he was at the top of his bodybuilding game in street clothes. He was one big dude.

Great questions! I'll be sure to ask him those. Not too many people have asked him about his football career.

I disagreed with Chris about Ronnie at the 2001 Arnold. And I think Ronnie was 260ish there, not 240. I think he went down to the 240s for the 2001 Mr O.

From what I remember, I think Ronnie was in the 240's for the 2001 Arnold but I don't think he was 280 at the previous Mr. Olympia (2000). I believe Ronnie was about 247 for the '98 Olympia, 257 in '99
and over 260 in 2000. He was a little too bloated in 2000 so he went down to 247 for the 2001 Arnold and dominated that show. At the 2001 Olympia that year, he was pushed hard by Jay and was losing going into the night show. The next year at the Olympia (2002), he came in too flat because the judges told him to compete like he did at the 2001 Arnold. However, Ronnie was too big at that point and he lost muscle and flattened out trying to get down to the 240's. He barely won the Olympia that year and then lost to Gunter at the Show of Strength one month later. In 2003, Ronnie came back bigger than ever at 283 pounds and totally dominated.
