Leg workouts over 40-or 50..

I am largely rehabbed from my hernia surgery of 9/13, having taken couple months off, then a light month, before pushing more. Finally Squatting 545 for reps again to parallel after supersetting Nautilus leg extensions and Vertical Leg presses. Several light to moderate- (<50%) before the working HIT sets. Not far off my best, but no longer going for extreme poundages. I don't think I need it anymore. At 54, I haven't seen the kind of fall off in leg training that I was led to expect. Maybe at 60+??

Squats= working sets 365 x 3 x 10. Drop set of 225 x 1 x 25
Leg curls 4 x 15+.
Walked the stairs carrying 45 pound DB's 4 times up and down
Walking lunges across the basketball court. Long stride 4 times across.

Minimal rest between sets. When I finish a set my training partner goes. Repeat.

I'm 53.  A little TRT.

Very much so.   Super setting extensions with vertical leg press... Ouch. That's not any fun at any time.

A recent leg workout. I have two spinal injuries so I no longer squat.

Single leg extensions 5 sets each leg x 20reps to fatigue quads.
Single leg leg press 5 sets 20 reps. One set is 20/20 then add a 45 to each side and repeat (100 reps each leg total).
Single leg glutes kick back press 5 sets 10reps/set
Adduction Inner thigh 4 sets 12 reps/set
Stiff leg deadlifts using dumbbells 4 sets 10 reps/set
Seated calve raises 4 sets 30 reps

I move quickly with very little rest and mix up different movements like walking lunges and reverse hacks.

I split legs into 2 days but I squat both days. On my heavy day I usually get to 455lbs for a couple of good, deep reps. I've never squatted over 500lbs even in my younger years.
A few months short of 50 years old. 12 weeks 500ml test , 200ml since then.    ( 4 months)
Walking lunges (with barbell) is a killer now...

Thankfully from my powerlifting days my quads have held up pretty well without squatting Tommy.

High volume seems to bring the veins out. The single leg 100 rep leg presses are a killer!

When I  told my doc about my 500 ml weekly(UGL), he finally gave in and allowed me to get on prescribed HRT.

Big diff between 500mg/week and 125mg/3 weeks (standard TRT). Notice a huge difference?

Ya I meant mgs...Doc wanted 125mg / 10 days. We met @ 200/ weekly. I told him I would take 200 either way.

I don't really notice much difference, as long as I keep my diet clean.

I work with 200 mg's every four (4) days. A bit above standard TRT protocol but not by much.  Either Cyp or enth depending.

And that's a prescribed TRT dose? I am doing 250/week of enan. Your TRT seem like more juice than my baby-dose.

 ;).  It's absolutely not prescribed TRT. It's just my version of TRT.  It seems that 200mg's every seven (7) days is a popular TRT routine actually prescribed by a few doctors here in Northern California.

Nice workout, good volume.     It's weird, when we finish off with walking lunges we don't find it necessary to use any weight. Weird, I know. Those final sets pump AND burn like crazy.   Years ago I would have laughed at walking lunges with zero weight.

Haha, I actually train more than most. 5 or 6 times weekly.
I post while I work, I often have large blocks of free time at night...

So you end up with 4 45lbers on each side or you keep it stagnant at one 45 after first set?

Currently doing Front Squats no belt or knee wraps
Working upto around 350lbs.
Am hoping to get to 400+ for 5reps.

Also like to do wide stance back squats.

Like super sets of leg curls / leg extensions / leg press high reps 50+.

Deadlifts & good mornings.

I'm with you on the high rep leg press.  Crazy burn/pump and the low back stays out of the action (unlike with high rep squats)
