When New York City Police Walk Off the Job

.......................

The list of grievances adds up to very little, unless you look at it through the magnifying lens of resentment fomented by union bosses and right-wing commentators. The falling murder rate, the increased resources for the department, the end of quota-based policing, which the police union despised, the mayor’s commitment to “broken-windows” policing — none of that matters, because many cops have latched on to the narrative that they are hated, with the mayor orchestrating the hate.

It’s a false narrative. Mr. de Blasio was elected by a wide margin on a promise to reform the policing excesses that were found unconstitutional by a federal court. He hired a proven reformer, Mr. Bratton, who had achieved with the Los Angeles Police Department what needs doing in New York. The furor that has gripped the city since the Garner killing has been a complicated mess. But what New Yorkers expect of the Police Department is simple:

1. Don’t violate the Constitution.

2. Don’t kill unarmed people.

To that we can add:

3. Do your jobs.
The police are sworn public servants, and refusing to work violates their oath to serve and protect. Mr. Bratton should hold his commanders and supervisors responsible, and turn this insubordination around.

1. Don't own a gun if you're a pussy

2. Don't carry guns in public if you're a pussy

3.  Don't take swat wannabe pics holding a gun if you're a pussy.

That is all. Carry on.

Nah...if you advocate for reform, apparently you support killing cops.  ::)

May as well put them on a pedestal at this point.  Cops do nothing wrong, contribute nothing to the problems.  In fact, they could all be Saints!

the bad cops want to take the focus off their actions.  They shift it to a mayor who sucks up to them constantly, but DOES support much-needed reform.  Anyone that says the NYPD is doing a bang-up job is blind... they regularly cover up crimes by their officers, and this isn't even debatable.

But hey, remember how repubs marched off a cliff in support of Putin, Kadaffi, zimmerman, wilson... no matter how evil, crazy, punk, liberal, or cowardice a person is, if they are the antithesis of a FOX new bad guy, they will support them.

no, its really the other way around. If you feel the cops are justified in their actions apparently you support killing civilians.

Youve done it, every other guy on here who argues your side has too. In response to a post about the cops being justified you ask "so the guy deserved to die?" even though that was never said or even implied.

You have literally said that if you don't do what a cop orders, you should expect to be killed.

repubs are very eager to comply with police, because they think it equals anti-Deblasio.

It's hilarious that a group of conservatives that used to be all about personal rights and the Constitution are okay with cops that publicly search ball sacks and search people without cause.

They hate certain people so badly, they're willing to excuse the Constitution in that case.

This is only one time. There is a thread full of others:

If you think that cops might abuse their authority even if you comply then ONLY A FUCKING IDIOT would think its reasonable to assume that if you dont comply they will act within the law...

what part of that do you not underfuckingstand moron?

So basically you feel this guy thought he could act up and resist arrest and only get physically reprimanded to a certain point which he felt was acceptable.

::) like I said earlier, youre a fucking idiot and so was he if thats we he believed

There's no ambiguity in that statement, but you can spend the next few posts backtracking and pretending I'm twisting your words like you always do.

Was it a chokehold?  Why no damage to the throat?   How was he able to keep talking?  Do you know when Garner actually died?

That was your explanation of why Garner was responsible for his own death.

That was the part most people took issue with.  ::) I sarcastically said "Then I guess he deserved to die" once and it was in response to your unbelievable obtuseness regarding the facts of the matter, which I said was hyperbole. All of my posts and most of the posts that shared my POV specifically took issue with your wrongheaded line of thinking. You're pulling that "deserve to die" bit mostly out of thin air. Keep in  mind, at this point you considered their use of force excessive.

actually no, many people other than yourself have mentioned it in response to mine and others views of the situation.

It is a fall back for many people with views such as yours.

::) Well, this is what you said:

Youve done it, every other guy on here who argues your side has too. In response to a post about the cops being justified you ask "so the guy deserved to die?" even though that was never said or even implied.

These things didn't occur in the thread that most closely resembles what your describing.

No, that's fact and exactly what happened. You can verify it by checking the post  underneath it in which you are quoted doing exactly that.

::) You are such a pathetic liar. You were clearly talking about  and trying to make it seem as if something that never happened actually happened. Just like I said earlier in this thread... just like you do all the time... backtrack and pretend I'm twisting your words.
