So, they didn't air it because it was so controversial that tv audiences across the nation would have gotten too disturbed?
Hmmmmm The best thing that can happen to any tv network or any stream service for that matter, is to air a controversy ......
So, according to Boyer, CBS crew followed around Mentzer, Tinerino ,Zane ,Dickerson and himself, all featured as the main contenders for the contest.
And then comes Arnold, unexpected, out of nowhere and win it all, now, that will make the whole crew and production look like they did a poor job by following around the wrong contestants and making the documentary about everyone but the winner....
That to me makes more sense to not air the show.
Arnold was booed, fellow competitors felt he wasn't even top three
But to Arnold in general, the 80's was his most successful decade due to his popularity in movies, got married had kids and ending the decade by launching the most prestigious BB contest, Arnold Classic..
Now, the 1980 controversy and old champs looking back (whining) will make the controversial 1980 MrO (never aired footage) more attractive to mainstream audiences than pumping Iron ever did .....
Since no one seem to care Derek winning the Olympia back is worth to remember beyond this year
We need to get hands on that footage in 2026 !!
