Holy shit. Just because she lost weight doesn't mean she did it the right way. Jesus, she developed health problems from it.

Did you, "Coach"? She was 265 pounds at 5'6". Jesus, being that fat would cause her to develop health problems from it.

Coach, I say this respectfully,  but it's an entertainment show first and foremost.  They want ratings. They don't "care" about these people and the trainers want exposure.

Secondly she already had and was going to continue to develop health problems. Losing weight in a non healthy manner was literally the least of her health concerns.

She felt the show was real, because to her it was, but to everyone else it was a job.

Hey Coach,  what if Obama asked you to be his trainer? Would you do it?

Since there is no intelligent life on this planet, that would include you as well.

What is your solution to this young woman's health problems? If she weighed 265 pounds at 26 years of age, how much would she weigh when she was 46? She lacked discipline and motivation, both of which she got on "Biggest Loser". She is complaining about it now, but the show gave her a life-changing (and maybe life-saving) experience.

800-1000cal a day, "working out" for 6-8hrs, burnt out thyroid, pissing blood, etc. seriously. How can you even think that way.

Compare it to her lifestyle before. 4,000-5,000 cal/day, sedentary 24/hrs per day, jacked thyroid, overworked heart, high cholesterol, and arteriosclerosis and diabetes lurking in the future. Is the show extreme? Yes. Did she need an extreme intervention? Yes.

When you lose that quick it's guaranteed you gain it back. She was better off when she was fat. Again, you can't be serious.

Losing weight = water, fat, muscle. Not to mention damage being done to her by, running, jumping and whatever they do to fat people that have no business doing that.

I read the article, but I've never really watched the show. My understanding is the people who loses the most weight,  respectively to their initial weight wins. It's a contest  based on reality tv?

Her complaint was her harsh treatment and monitoring of all her actions?  I don't think it was exactly Auschwitz. One contestant had a family issue but choose to stay because the contest would have gone on without him; interestingly enough Trent Richardson of the Colts won't play the Patriots today because of a family issue, no one suggested postponing the contest this evening.

She felt duped and abused by a TV show, I get that. She thought her trainers cared about her health,  they didn't; if she took the advice to smoke so she could sur press her appetite then she's the idiot.  For the trainers it's a CONTEST I'm sure the producers were encouraging them to get them to get extreme weight loss goal, they played the two groups against each other.

If you posted this on an automotive board I could see you getting the reaction you wanted. You posted it here where we know about the dirty secrets of "health and fitness".

With all your experience and contacts I'm surprised you are shocked by the smoke and mirrors of television.  Did you think the show picked the trainers based on their morals?

Coach, you can't be serious. She was 265 pounds at 5'6". There is no way a 26 year old at that weight is "healthy", and the older she gets the harder it will be for her to lose weight. This woman was on track to being 350 or 400 pounds by her late 40s. Did she lose water weight? Sure. Did she lose fat? Absolutely yes. Did she lose muscle? Probably not much, considering she had little to start with.

She may gain the weight back, but that will be up to her. If she continues exercising and eats properly, she should be fine. If she goes back to her old ways, she will get back to her old weight and probably surpass it. At least "The Biggest Loser" gave her a realistic chance to improve her life.

The more important question is:

After the weight loss, would you take her to a nice restaurant for a date?

The methods on the show seem extreme, unnecessarily so.

The article insinuates they didn't teach them the skills necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

That said what do these people think when they're going to do when they drop 100 pounds in 30 days, just eat chicken breast and tuna with lemon water?

The general public doesn't understand how hard it can be to maintain an active lifestyle.  Everyone thinks if they work out they'll get to big or if they juice they'd be a pro in whatever sport they train for.

It's always funny we people say health is the main concern when nothing about their life is healthy to begin with.

Oh and it's a COMPETITIVE REALITY TELEVISION SHOW airing during prime time.  They don't care about 30 random fatsos, if they did people wouldnt be sent home every week, they'd keep working with them on the weight loss.

This is 100%  true but  we can say the same thing about the violence of the collisions in the NFL.

Ratings are the bottom line.
