Auxillary Police

Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be in law enforcement. however due to injuries I sustained while I was in the service i'm not medically qualified to become a sworn police officer so I was thinking of becoming what they call in my area an auxillary cop. I think lou ferrigno did something like this so this is bodybuilding related. you don't get paid or get to carry a gun so it would be more like a hobby for me. I know a lot of you and real cops laugh at this but I think it could be interesting

anyone ever do anything like this?

You get respect from old people, some store owners, and perhaps a few small favors from real cops (when they aren't annoyed or laughing at you for being a buff). The bad thing is that you'll be put in some very bad places with little more than security guard gear. Real criminals know that you can't really do anything, so they will give you a rough(or rougher) time than even a regular citizen.

Just some thoughts from a guy that knew LOTS of them growing up.

Not sure where you are but here they are called Reserve Police Officers. They do get a gun and badge and everything else and have the same powers as regular paid police.  

Maybe things are different depending on location. Maybe check with your local police and see what options are available for someone with your abilities.

Yeah, that's true. Here in the NE, they're more used as a community relations tool, and for light duty like traffic direction, etc....

Sorry to hear about your less than fulfilling childhood.  Probably better in the long run to see a shrink to deal with your issues rather than project them on your local community by being in law enforcement.

I would love to join the FBI but I don't think I would be cut out for the immense workload. Detailed knowledge on language, law, etc. I'm a hands on kind of guy.

what lou did is referred to as a reserve officer...you still must be able to obtain a peace officers license to do it..

no..look at the military...not every job is a war fighter...everyone needs a computer guy, assistant..something...t here is a job everywhere
