Wow, that sounds really..........

gross.

It really did to me to, but I was willing to try it. I am not going to say that it is the greatest thing, but it really isn't bad.

I'd sure like to see what kind of physiques these guys have built eating this "bodybuilding food". I've seen what TA has accomplished with his pastries and right now he's leading the pack both in physique and quality of life.

I wonder how many people really look at themselves objectively and wonder if it's worth what they put themselves through and how much of a difference it would make if they just ate somewhat normally.

I was at a Christmas dinner and this tool actually brought his own food in a tupperware container. He said that he was a bodybuilder.

Good thing he told us that because none of us would have guessed it. Meanwhile another guest who plays college ball and is a pretty jacked and it was obvious he hit the weight room was gorging on the cake and ice-cream.

-aj- is in good shape, so he's not a good example, but I totally get the point.

Unless they're dieting for a contest or something, the whole bring your own food thing is silly.  One meal at a party isn't going to do shit.

You didn't throat-punch the tool who brought his own food?

I could be in better shape, that's for sure.

But in my defense, I NEVER refuse a good meal. For me, when I bring up shit like the melange above, its when I am home, alone on a weekend and need something solid on my stomach. I would never bring that trash to a Thanksgiving dinner. Life is too short for that noise.

My wife makes good, high-protein, low(er) carb food. She made a ripping chicken parmesan with a coating of almond flour/coconut flour and as God is my witness, you could not tell the difference between that and a regular chicken parm. Ate it just like that, with lots of cheese.

I am never going to be <10% at my age. I will probably never get my lower abs into the shape that I want them to be, and I am OK with that. Better that then to be a social pariah.

I'm sure you could get sub 10% if you were offered 10 grand for a photo shoot.

The point is: what's the point of torturing yourself trying to get a dry six pack? For what? Maybe if you're still a kid going on spring break hoping to get laid. Weight training, good nutrition and a healthy life style is suppose to enhance your quality of life not make you miserable. TA has it right and I wish I could be his neighbor. We'd argue all the time over religion and politics but it will always be in good spirits when done over a good meal. And I love desserts. My idea of splurging is stopping by Foodland after working late and buying their discounted glazed donuts at $3.50/dozen. I could only imagine what life would be like hanging with TA. And maybe I'd finally learn to cook.

At least he keeps in good shape and tries to enjoy life.

Unless you make your living with your physique bringing your "bodybuilding food" in a tupperware container to a social event is just pathetic and shows a very distorted value system.

Bodybuilding/weight training can really be a wonderful thing and I believe it is the best method to maintain over all health and functional ability. But there sure is a dark side to it. Seems more so than other "healthy" activities with the exception of Cross Fit and it's various clones.

Eggs.

Requires a little prep time, but they cannot be beat.

Eggs can most certainly be beaten.

I wouldn't go to a social event and eat this stuff, I'm talking about after the gym and for lunch at work, when I'm at home by myself.  Other than that i eat whatever my wife makes for dinner, although over the last couple years I have convinced her to cook a lot more healthy.  A few years ago I just ate anything and didn't even think about it, I got fat, had high blood pressure, and high cholesterol and just felt like shit so for me I need to eat healthy.  Also my wife is native American and likes to make Indian fry bread, that shit is good but will blow you up fast if your not careful

Why eat this shit when you can just grill a nice piece of beef or chicken?  I never understood the whole egg white thing.  That stupid mentality that eggs are for breakfast only. You're a bodybuilder.  Anytime is a good time for chicken and beef.  My favor breakfast food is smoked salmon.

Smoked salmon with a side of scrambled eggs, greens and fruit is mine.

It's just not cost effective - i buy 12 oz for $10 at Costco, and even if I buy two, me and my son end up killing it in a week.

When I'm not dieting I buy NY Everything bagels, toast them, some cream cheese, capers, smoked salmon and thinly sliced red onion.  Seriously best meal in the world.  When dieting I slice cucumbers lengthwise to replace the bagel and get light cream cheese.  Still a great meal.

This with the soft boiled eggs looks insane.  Need one now.

How's your mercury poisoning doing?  I used to eat canned tuna all the time.  Must explain a lot about my brain melting.

This tuna looks good.  Want to try the tuna fillets in the jar.

I tried some tuna jerky a few months ago. Dried like beef jerky. It wasn't as tough, but tasted like a salt-lick. Ugh.
