hey coach,....and DO NOT take offence to this or think I am being a dick
its just a question

how come you never embed youtube videos?

LOL...I don't take offence to that. I try to embed and used to be able to all the time. Something in the coding doesn't allow it. Some one said take the "s" out the http and I did that. Still didn't work so now I just paste the link.

Yeah all you have to do is click the Youtube icon and just remove this 's' from the https and it works

Question:

He says he invented something called "The Kroc Row." It looks like a normal dumbbell row to me. He says he pulls the dumbbell up high and squeezes his shoulder blades together. Most people who do dumbbell rows do them this way. What's he doing that's so different that he needs to call it a "Kroc Row."

Someone please explain!

So, if I use a very heavy barbell and do very very high reps, is that called a Kroc Row, too?

Or if I use a very heavy dumbbell and do very very high reps on the incline press, is that called a Kroc Press?  ??? ??? ???

In other words, he is just doing a standard dumbbell row with a heavy weight and high reps and calling it a Kroc row?  ??? ??? ???

Maybe you also have to do ultra limited range movements to qualify for the blessed "Kroc" nom de plume?  I dunno.  I axed but no reply so I removed my query.  Not a problem as I think the use of puny limited range movements is directly related to either pain avoidance or ego enhancement.

Or both.

I am going to invent random exercises and give them a name, too. Maybe it will make me famous, like Vince Goodrum, aka, the man with over 200 online businesses.

The man does appear to  be strong, I fail to understand the limited range movements some do.  As previously said, I think Strongman contestants are true athletes.  Bodybuilders?

No way.

So, in other words, its a slightly modified dumbbell row and its just called a Kroc row?  ??? ??? Its just looser form with more weight and high reps.

I don't know, I still don't see a difference. Its not like its a drastically different exercise than a standard dumbbell row.

Joe has been told that MANY TIMES.

Not quite sure why he can't seem to remember it but it seems to be a common problem (not remembering simple shit) for him

Coach, do you advocate his type of training?

He has torn more muscles than Ronnie and Dorian combined.

Obviously, not a very safe trainee.  And isn't it the point of a properly designed strength program to PREVENT injury, NOT cause it?

Of course not. I would never train my clients with weight they couldn't handle. But that's power lifting and strongman isn't much better. But they seem to live longer than competitive bodybuilders..lol. I don't have any tears but I'm dealing with a nagging meniscus and UCL but that's because I'm usually throwing a football for about 100 reps on the weekends (the UCL).

Maybe you didn't read close enough. I said I tried. Your MSNBC style of reporting is kicking in.

Indeed, that's exactly what it is, a sloppy heavy row done for reps.

To be fair, he didn't pull a Weider and invent a lift. I remember when it first started a decade+ ago, it was mainly internet powerlifters that wrote into EliteFTS's board that called them Kroc rows, and then it became a bit of a joke, and now it just sorta fell into common use.

Here's an old vid of those guys giving a wink and a nod to it years ago -

Kroc rows are a pure ego lift, I did them with ridiculous weights and surprisingly my back got no bigger

Lucky not to tear a bicep doing that   :-X

Anything more than the range necessary to directly hit target muscle is stupid..

Yes, that is what it seems like. A dumbbell row with sloppier form. I watched other youtube videos and its really no different than a dumbbell row. It just looks slightly modified to handle bigger weight.

yeah, and you've been told how to make that simple correction many times

Why am I not surprised something so incredibly simple is still out of your grasp?

Yeah, he, himself, just use to write them as dumbbell row weight x reps (adding more reps cause he couldn't find larger dumbbells), and then the questions start in - "How can we do Kroc rows?", "Where can we buy big dumbbell handles for Kroc rows?", "can we do other exercises like Kroc Rows?", and so on. Some of the stuff was so silly.
