1. Mike Tyson (In his Cus D'amato prime, yes).

2. Holyfield        \
2. Lennox Lewis   |-- Tied
2. Riddick Bowe  /
So overall careers mean nothing? That's like saying Bo Jackson was better than Barry Sanders, because Bo had that few year window.

Good post.

It's not a good post , it's an ignorant , retarded , Shizzo  post.

Chronological age  and boxing age are  two completely different matters , boxers peak at different ages , because  fighting style ,weight classes, amount of fights........  etc .  heavyweights usually have  their peak/prime  in their 30's, Tyson peaked in his early 20's.

Mike Tyson wasn't the ultimate ''what if'' fighter , he was  the  youngest HW World Champion , first heavyweight to own all three major belts at the same time, at the same age Lennox was still in the amateurs.

Flashes of lightning aren't as impressive as long, sustained excellence. Those guys might not have been as explosive, powerful, or flashy as Tyson, but they proved that they were the better fighters. Tyson didn't have the will to succeed for the majority of his career. That has to count against him at some point.

Lennox Lewis: At his best he beats the other fighters on this list, he was one of the most technically sound big men in boxing and his tremendous power was surpassed only by his boxing IQ (granted he has had a few mental lapses in the past)

Evander Holyfield: He is a top ten all time great at heavyweight and his legacy speaks for itself. The only reason I put Lennox above him is because I feel Lennox would have won most match ups between them

Mike Tyson: Hate him or love him there was a time Tyson dominated the HW with an iron fist and no one came close to touching him. His skills gradually deteriorated after he let Rooney go and his bad lifestyle and dumb choices eventually brought him down. However in his prime he dominated heavyweight boxing in a way that not many fighters can.

Riddick Bowe: Hard to rate. In my mind he wasted his potential, he could have been an all time top 5 great but he lacked the mental fortitude to go that far. I think at his beast he could give any other heavyweight a run for his money but he did not dominate his division like the previous three did even though he displayed great brilliance the ring.

It was probably D'Amato's death that hurt more. He was Tyson's mentor and father figure. Seemed to lose his edge a bit after that.

Tyson at his very best beats all of them.

Then Lewis Bowe holyfield.

Lewis would have beaten Tyson easily later on, Bowe avoided him and the Holyfield fight was just ugly, 9 times out of  10 he wins that fight easily I still think the fix was in for that draw.

What about Riddick Bowe?  he never fought Tyson or Lewis.
he fought Lewis at the Olympics & got destroyed. Wasn't a knockout but Lewis was several levels about Bowe. That's why Bowe threw the belt in the garbage instead of taking the Lewis mandatory.

I think Tyson style beats Bowe. Bowe's style beat Holyfield. Holyfield's style beat Tyson. Lewis beat Bowed easily. I think Tyson & Holyfield in their prime beat Lewis.

When I was competing in amateur boxing, most scandinavian trainers said Tyson was by far the best HW boxer in a long time..
Holyfield the steroid headbutter can't compare against prime Tyson!

What's with you guys ranking Tyson over Holyfield.  Watch this fight.  Tyson get his ass handed to him.

Holyfield won the fight by tying up Tyson every time he got close.

Here's the fight:

Tyson - jab jab hook or leading left hook

Holyfield - dives in for a hug, stoping Tyson offense.

Holyfield realized he couldn't outslug Tyson and measure chin to chin so he just wore him down. Look at round two; Holyfield decides to stand and trade punches and ends up giving in and going in for a lean.

Tyson was a big favorite in that fight and I promise you 100% of his nuthuggers on here thought he was going to "destroy" Holyfield before that match.

Imagine if Tyson made the transition into mma. With his short stocky explosive build he would pick up take down defense very fast. First murder in the octagon. I really think he would learn fast.

Sorry not trying a good thread.

Da cage is a different tin of biscuits. Tyson would get crushed by a featherweight in MMA easy.

Boxer’s peak and decline at different ages so Shizzo’s point is a moronic one.
Tyson peaked early in his career while Lewis peak in his latter years. FFS, Tyson went on to lose to Danny Williams and Kevin McBride shortly afterwards. :-\

I think Lewis had the best career overall out of the four but he benefitted from the fact that the other three were on the decline by the time he started to hit his prime.
Tyson was the most talented of the bunch while Holyfield had the greatest wins.
Bowe was too inconsistent but was superb when on form.

watch all of tyson's fights. he was the original head butt-er. lead with the head.

as soon as someone did the same as he did, he ran shit scared and threw in the towel. complained and then feigned illegal tactics. piece of shit.

holyfield first, lewis second. who cares about the rest.

if u want to see great boxing checkout hagler, leonard, duran and hearns for skills, heart, fitness and tactics.

dont know what fight you were watching. holyfield took it to tyson and took the big hits. let me ask you- would you let a small man inside under your chin?- and if you were tyson, would you stay outside?

you know those big gloves get all caught up dont you?

tyson took leading with the head to a new level. watch all of his fights and be objective, not a fan boy- and watch what he does differently to others. if someone leads with their iron head under your chin are you going to just give him space so he can upper cut you out the ring?!..

all it needed was a boxer with skill, a hard jaw and some strength- and willing to use the tyson approach, and tyson ran scared. as soon as tyson lost, he lost again and again. those others lost and then came back.

tyson doesnt feature in the best. even the pro boxing writers dont have him ranking in the top heap.
