Tyson fought in an era of no serious competition
Look at Ali, Frazier, Norton, Holmes, Foreman
That was an ear of greatness.

Can you imagine what Ali would have done verbally to Tyson leading up to a fight?
Tyson would have been convinced he had lost before he got in the ring.

As for the Welter/Middleweight era
If Hearns had a chin he would have been the best by far, his power and accuracy was unmatched, everytime he lost was because he got caught early or late when gassed.

What about top 5 all-time regardless of division?  Does Mayweather get a sniff on anyone's list?

If he had fought and beaten Paquaio around 2008/2009, than yes. As things stand, I'd say no.

But has Floyd's competition been good enough, or would an undefeated record leave no doubt regardless?

I honestly believe Mayweather would have struggled with a prime Herol Graham (154 - 160), might have even lost. Bombers main issue was his chin (Floyd isnt known as a power puncher) and his fight prep was never ideal but his skill was unbelievable. People say Floyd dodged prime guys but if you still look at the list hes beaten, its ridiculously impressive.

lol@ Tyson had no inside punching skills. The shortest HW in his time who relied on getting in close and "inside punching".

once again watch larry holmes vs tyson. second he got clinched he didnt do shit besides look puzzled and confused. a true inside fighter
doesnt get flustered by clinching and moving.

Oh, why didn't you say so. He clinched with Larry Holmes and didn't do shit. Well, that settles it.

How about all of Tyson's virtually all of knockouts came from the inside. All his bobbing and weaving was so he could get to the inside to land those upper cuts, hooks and body shots.

He was shorter than everybody. Getting inside was the only way he was going to hit anybody. But he stopped fighting like that later in his career. Tyson's prime lasted only a few years. As I said, after Cus died and the original crew were gone so was Tyson's fighting skills. Tyson in many ways still had the mind of a child and needed the guidance Cus and company provided. He never recovered after he got out of jail.

And I hope you realize when you say Tyson had no inside punching skills that his strength was fighting from the outside. A boxer who was known for his ruthless aggressive style and always pressed forward, bobbing and weaving, firing hooks and upper cuts.

Does this look like a guy who fought from the outside which implies and more defensive counter striker? Pay special attention to 8:20 where he "couldn't do shit" to Larry Holmes from the inside.

he obviously has to press to get into range he is always giving up 10inches in reach he is a mid range fighter and thats it sure he has all the punches in the books, speed, power ect. thats why i said very educated boxer but dumb cus taught him everything and he still remembers it till this day but never used it.

larry holmes gassed by that point thats why i brought up holmes preparation for the fight. holmes was hit with an atom bomb by earnie fucking shavers the guy ali said is the hardest puncher he ever faced and he still got up. if tyson gave holmes proper prep time he wouldnt of been KOd.

Holmes was out on impact but hit the ring so hard it woke him up. Shavers hit him TOO hard if thats possible to believe.

I always wondered why he stopped fighting the way he did when he was young. He didn't evolve well overtime. He became a slugger.

don king already tried to organize old foreman vs tyson and tyson said fuck no because he knows better. old george fought very calm and
relaxed and rarely got angry but when he did like against cooney he put the beat down on you.

young foreman blasts tyson out of the ring 1st round.  watch foreman vs frazier 1   tyson aint no frasier to get up 300 times lol

Yeah, I agree , getting angry is one of the most effective tools  in a boxer's arsenal.

Guillermo Rigondeaux will likely be regarded by the guys that actually know the intimacies of pro boxing as a top 5 ATG in years to come. He gets almost NO recognition yet is better than even Floyd.

If Floyd was Anderson Silva then Guillermo is Jose Aldo.

Prime Foreman puts a beating on Tyson 9 times out of ten. Foreman wouldn't be phased too bad by Tyson's punching power, he was in there with lots of heavy punchers. Also, he had better later round experience. And another key thing is that D'amato never wanted Tyson in with a fighter of Foreman's class and style according to folks in Tyson's camp, and that would've plagued Tyson mentally tremendously.

"If Tyson gave Holmes proper prep time"

"Mid range fighter"

Um, OK. You sound like a boxing genius. Why aren't you a professional analysis?

I remember watching the Frasier/Foreman fight live when I was a kid. My jaw just dropped seeing Frazier just man handled and knocked around like that.
