Isolated libs love to vote for things that will never affect their property values or local schools
Most of the Latinos one sees around my neck of the woods are folks gardeners or other laborers. The two fellows cleaning our roof yesterday and today are Latino. I live in suburbia. What would urban youth be doing here?
LOL at the hippy commune idea. Never was much of a hippy since I don't like drugs or crowds. Our house is kind of like a commune though. We have three generations living here, all family. Fortunately, our home is roomy.
No one has ever stuck a gun in my face. A few years back, the owner of Columbia Sportswear, Gert Boyle was held hostage and robbed by some Latino men. She's since moved, but she lived close to where I live at the time.
I'm not sure what an isolated lib is. I am politically active and hardly isolated. I voted for local and state school and park levies that raised my property taxes when I believed there was a need. I was disappointed when a bond levy to build a community sports center and indoor pool up the hill from me failed. It seemed like it would be a great asset to the area, providing recreation and a place for folks, especially teenagers, to hang out. I also believe it would have raised property values in the area, not that they are suffering any.
West Linn is known to have some of the best schools in the state. We have a great police department. The police are quite visible. We recently completed a new police station. A local levy paid for it. There's a main artery with a meridian at the top of the hill that cuts through the residential area. Last summer, the city began a meridian restoration, planting trees, shrubs and perennials. This project continues this spring. It is nice to see our tax dollars at work.
